Leichter Panzerspähwagen 2cm Sd.Kfz. 222

@EndlesNights amazing job man!

two questions tho:

1st would be if it is intended that the car wont move when standing still?

Try turning the weels fully to one side and then trying to drive in a circle which is not possible because the car wont move!

in reverse this problem is not present!

second thing is the traverse speed!

will it stay at 20° and 35° per second or will you chage them?

since you seem to have acces to a museum which has a 222 could you jump in and make a test how fast one can turn the handweels to turn the turret?

I posted some sources about the gear ratios here!

two seconds for a full handweel turn seems kinda slow!

I don't have access to a museum with a 222. I just happened to stumble onto a collection of images from a walk around of the in the Littlefield collection.

The rotation times that are currently implemented are more based on the other German FlakPanzer. I am considering changing the rotation speeds to be faster when I get home tonight.

I'll see about fixing the driving. But based on the British Cars the T17 and AEC variants that are currently implemented, cars should not be turning at all without pressing forwards or reverse.

I only found a vid of a 222 elevating its gun but not rotating the turret! As you can see its very fast!

its right at the begining of the video

You missunderstood me! Its normal that if you are steering without pressing the gas peddal the car wont move.

The problem with the 222 is that when you are turning hard left or hard right and then press W (step on the gas) the car wont move the engine will just rev up!

No worry. Though there is a great museum in my area with a fairly vast collection that I may be using in the near future for some other projects.

That is replica 222, not a real one sorry to say. I've been trying to find more details about the Sockellafette gun mount. And look for any statistics that I could use.

Additionally the while it first appeared that fastest elevation times in game seem to all max out at 20 degrees per second including roof mounted machines guns which can be moved without gear systems. After poking around some of the game files I can see that while many AA units have pitch at 20 degrees a second maximum (not counting research/crew modifiers) there are few units with exceptions that have an pitch value greater than 20 degrees per seconds. So It's not as though this is a self imposed limit .

Assuming about 1 turn per second I'll be using values of  40° per second for horizontal traverse and 65° per second for vertical pitch.(though an argument can also be made for 27° per second based on the low gear setting)  Based on the datasheets.

I understand what you say now. And I will so it functions like other cars in game.

@DonHornegger

Changes have been implemented.

Vertical Elevation Speed: 65° per second from 20°
Horizontal Rotation Speed 40° per second from 35°

Improved turning at low speed & from a stand still to be more in line with other cars implemented in the game.

Thanks for all your help.

found a vid of someone turning the handweel of a real 222

here one can clearly see that it is really easy to turn the hadweel so not hard to get one even two turns per second!

but as it is now its great!

thaks for making it turnable from a standstill since all the other armored cars can do it! thanks for that too!

cant wait for the implementation!

Currently hard at working on that base texture. Not something I have much experience with, but lots of great resources to help me on my way.

Maybe I should call up a museum and ask them to make a recording of them spinning the turret in a quick 360 rotation a few times. For science!

if you succede with that gaijin wont have an argument against a faster then 20° traverse rate!

Have this project been abandon?

Is this abandoned or is this the model being implemented by gaijin in the next patch? Also, would you be interested in producing the Sd.Kfz. 222's successor?:

I don't understand why anyone would want anything lower than a tier 3 vehicle unless you have to. The "have to" grind may only last a day or two so investing in vehicles that offer no meaningful rewards or returns on future events to this old EVEer doesn't make any sense at all.

In order to win Pokemon Thunder you must collect them all! :salute:
