This is a bad excuse. I don't think that anyone sane is expecting to have ships, tanks and planes in the same battle because it makes no sense at all. The closest you'd get is to have LST's sail to the coast and have tanks disembark, supported by naval artillery.

 

A single battleship for example near a tank battleground could have catastrophic results for those on the ground. 

 

A good example is this image someone posted in another topic of a Panzer III after contact with a Salvo from HMS Warspite:

I've been on WT for for 3 1/2 years now and something that I've always wanted is REALISTIC NAVAL ships, if i wanted a fast peaced combat experience i would go to WOWS(and I'm not a fan of health bars) but since the first time I saw WT engine/ graphics and the way the mechanics worked I fell in love with it... I'm pretty sure you're failing to a 40% or maybe more of your community with saying that's it might be impossible to implement BB's!

 

Its ok, me and a lot of people understand that we have to start from the bottom but don't say at this early that is more likely a "NO" for large vessels in the WT Naval battles, There are really Few to almost no Naval multiplayer simulator games. And there's only ONE that you can play as Tanks, Planes AND what we were all hoping SHIPS. You have a hugeeeee community here and people who are interested in helping with the development on the naval's battles and mechanics.

 

Theres time and you already have the AI BB and DD in game. Use them as a early body to test them. Make maps 64 x 64. There can be different spawn points for different ships the ideas and ways to implement them are VAST. With what you've shown us of what the Gaijin team is able to do is very likely that you will be able to implement every or at least early BB's and CL's. Just look at it with a positive mind and use the count less ideas of the community! ^_^ :good:

Howdy

Being over 50,I built models of ALL planes, Tanks and these Ships and now to Play them and have over 20,000 Wins, too Cool !! Being a Retired Army Vet ,it's interesting to see this Game unfold.

 

The Ships aspect brings together a huge collaboration of things not just Players, to pull it off starting Smaller makes sense to me.!!!

I would like to add that there is a Huge difference between how PT boats , Destroyers , Cruisers and the Big Battleships all should be Used , played and portrayed hopefully, as Scarper adds, OUR feedback can be constructive to this large undertaking.

 

I would add like , in Military or any "Real World Job",  a "Player Experience Factor" or PEF, a, PVT/Lower Rank, isn't going to pilot/Command, even a PT Boat let alone a Destroyer/Battleship..etc.

The Current system is set-up for In-Game Experience to be Gained by CREWS, so GAIJIN I Challenge you and the Community to Accept and build upon this "PEF" idea so as to allow Everyone to EARN the Right to Command a larger ship based upon "In-Game Experience Gained". a Simple modification to add Experience points for Each " SHIP" is to me, not hard to Implement in the game. Thus learning how to Command the larger ships, overtime while commanding {  Destroyers, then Cruisers, Battleships } can be Achieved and give players a known GOAL to see, work-on and accomplish.!! 

 

I do agree Larger Battles may not fit the/some aspects of how the Game is " Currently" Set-up ,which is to me, Gaijin part of WHY you must do it, You'll gain immense Respect, players and oh $$$$$ with the advancement of the Gaming platform, technicals , ships and 1000's wanting to not just play but Advertising and Promotions would List " War Thunder" amongst the most Highly Reviewed, Wanted to play Games on PS4 & computers in the World . You'd be the ONLY Game with Larger ships in  combat that players could compete with and at some point bring in the Airplane aspect, Dive bombers, torpedo bombers, Fighters etc ,would leave no doubt in the "GAMING Communities mind" whose got the Game to play @ " War Thunder".!!!

And this is a problem how? And how often did this occur?

 

This is exactly what should happen in WW mode if you're within battleship gun range in a tank and you get fired upon. Keeping in mind that WW mode is the only game mode where tanks should meet ships to begin with, and even then it's only near the sea. You're hardly going to get shelled by a battleship in the middle of Russia.

I dont recall saying it would be directly tanks vs ships.

 

The point I was trying to make was as we move to larger combined battles, inevitably all 3 branches will be within the same map/location.

PT boats specifically should not even be near or within any proximity to tanks.

Well done on clearing this up. As usual you have been getting a lot of hate which you guys do not deserve since your logic is perfectly sound. However I am slightly dissapointed to see that I wont be able to captain HMS Hood and watch it inevitably get ammoracked by plunging fire. Here are some of my suggestions which could help the implementation of player controlled capital ships.

 

Firstly, the maps will not need to be bigger than 40x40km or so. This would be small enough for ships to meet each other quuckly but large enough that battleships could utilise their ling range firepower. This would solve the "back to the hangar" issue after sailing for ages to make contact.

 

Secondly, aircraft in this game could operate on a join in progress system akin to enduring confrontation. As long as there are aircraft carriers alive, friendlies can join the game and fly sorties against the enemy ships, of course these numbers will have to be capped for different planes of each class.

 

And thirdly, on the subject ofthe match maker. Lets face it, you abandoned realism a long time ago in favor of faster queue times and "balanced" gameplay. Thus it would not hurt so much to allow a few of the same ship to appear in one battle. The realism in war thunder only really resides in the flight and damage models nowadays, and i believe this would ahorten queuetimes and maintain fun gameplay. Despite what you may think now everyone will get the biggest baddest battleship they can find and start blasting. I for one would certainly working on getting myself the fastest, smallest destroyer and start running rings around big dumb battleships, so the "everyone queueing in the yamato" issue will not be as bad as you think it will be.

Far as I know  Panzer Graf  radioded for  Prinz Eugen fire support against field full of soviet tanks during Operation Bagration.

If there aren't gonna be any heavy cruisers or battleships I can only hope for light cruisers and destroyers in the future, otherwise Naval is gonna be a real disappointment for me ..

Nothing is changing at the moment. Everything in the CBT is subject to change which is precisely the point of the test.

(And still not giving examples of what classes of "FAST ATTACK CRAFT" will be able of taking on armored tanks)

Fast attack craft would have no need or reason to go near or tank on armored ground vehicles.

I'm very sorry that so many people react in such a negative way towards naval-forces.

 

I allways assumed that large ships would be extremely difficult to implement, as the whole game-meta doesn't fit them.

 

The very negative even hsotile reactions of some people won't help making WT  a better game, so calm down and think.

 

As much as I'd like to see Heavy-cruisers and BBs in WT, I agree that it's impossible to add them.

 

They cxan't be balanced against the other classes. A destroyer is bait for both Cruisers and BBs, whilst a cruiser can't fight a BB.

 

If Gaijin wants to make large-ship gameplay even slightly realsitic, BBs would slaughter anything. Battles would be fought beyond visual ranges. A few planes are enough to wipe out a fleet, player controlled AA way too powerfull, making a propper dmg-model for large ships is going to take for ever to make....

 

Seriousely guys, think !
