Stop leaving battles !

last game I just played.... I mean quit lol.

I mean... seriously????

WTF Gaijin???

That must be your setup, not the game. I never have seen such a bright sun. Try tweaking the PostFX?

I have everything set on minimum with 'old Graphics card' support, and this is what a large sunset looks like.

Im fine with that so long as it's placed to the left or right of the map.

But behind either team's spawn??? lol

On these settings the game runs nice and fast for me. It's just these insanely intense sunsets that cause an issue when they are placed behind a team's spawn.

And lets be honest.. I could lean out of my cockpit with a potato on a stick and bake it on that sun lol

Even with a Maxed Aced pilot I can only see planes from 4km 'sometimes less' away if no friendlies are within range of spotting.

And 4km is nothing when you have a 109 steaming at you full speed because it saw you from 10km away.

I have had games like this where I have check all around... only to be killed 10 seconds later by a plane I simply could not see.

Added are screenshots of 3 sunsets. As I said, it has to do with your settings. No ULQ exploitings in aircraft battles I suppose :) Mess around with your settings or ultimately if you can make the sacrifice don't buy a toaster as pc next time but something decent.

And about having the sun behind enemy spawn, climb to the side. The position of the sun will no longer be behind the spawn.

I7 processor with onboard graphics card... at the moment.

My PC is not a toaster.

If I was to take your first screen shot... and say that's what you see when I see the screen shot I posted... well... that's not my PC's toaster performance.
That would clearly be a problem with the game.

Ive played plenty of matches with the sunsets you have depicted.

I guess you've just been lucky not to be playing in these insane sunset matches.

Logically... if there were not the case... and it was my graphics... then every dawn or dusk match Ive been in would be be problematic.

But they are not.

Because there are a lot of different kinds of sunsets. I've only picked 3 of them. But I never have had it as bad as your screenshot. BTW, an onboard graphics card is not anywhere near good at the current state of technology, especially gaming wise. Just google it, one of my first results is a post from 10 years ago.

I have a decent card... just need to get a new power supply to get it up and running.

Its a twin fanned GeForce GTX 960 4G

I bought it so I can play the new Doom game.

So once that's fitted maybe the problem will be resolved.

But I see the same sunsets you do already.

If i could grind RP for use on a plane that i'm spading with spaded aircraft in my line up, then sure, it makes sense to stay in a battle. But if you have had a crap battle in a stock plane, and your time is limited, it will be a better use of your time to quit and join the next one. If you stay in you only get RP for researching something, and only the potential of a win modifier for what you are spading. Which if you did bugger all, will be still mean bugger all. It's what the game design teaches you.

Oh, and not sure what the sunsets bits are about, but also have a 960, and they are boootiful.

I am still cruising on my 670 GTX. I can wait for silent 1080s or 1070s custom designs to appear. After 4 years, I will update.

My GTX 760 can run with a solid 75 FPS with everything on ultra. My PC only suffers on GF with grass on.

If you only play WT you can pretty much go 10 more years without any considerable upgrades.

I often leave matches, after 2-3 minutes you can see what the outcome is going to be sometimes even within the first minute or so. As people have stated its a free to play game so I consider myself under no obligation to throw more time and planes in a lost cause just to give somebody more lions and experience.

If people are leaving and its that much of a problem then you need to find and address the root cause of the problem, even if it appears to you that they are not trying or bothered you have to make the game fun or at least enjoyable, simply punishing people just results in less players and a bad reputation and publicity. I am trying to get a Royal Navy decal and it requires the use of a Nimrod, Swordfish or a Sea Meteor, I have no jets unlocked so I use the tier one planes and the reserve planes. Yet most matches these interwar planes are up against Hurricanes, Spitfires, Yaks, Migs, P-40E and a lot of other early to midwar monoplanes. Sometimes you get lucky and you get a win but often you get hacked from the sky or you team gets stomped so its back to the hanger avoiding giving extra lions and exp to an already unbalanced match. It really does seem to be about luck and other factors outside your control so if it is pretty obvious it is not my lucky time then its back to the hanger .

Reasons why people leave:  They get an air domination and loaded their lineup full of bombers.  This is a L2P issue where they are unable to build a correct lineup.  They will need to adjust for this with this system.

They bring in a single vehicle, die in it, and leave the game.

They don't like the map so they leave the game.

They fly out their best plane and die in it really fast, get frustrated, and leave.

That sum it up pretty well?

Lets see here, how about being pitted up against an opposing team where almost all their players are 1 whole BR higher.   Or your team is getting plastered because for whatever reason they are hesitant to engage and you don't want to waste silver on a obviously lost battle.  I even left battles because everyone on the opposing team was one whole battle rating LOWER, I don't feel like shooting fish in a barrel just like I don't like being said fish.

I don't even look. The BR matters little, more important are the pilots, the lineups and the spading progress. That you don't usually know.

But I play for fun, not for ego.

Well, as long as i have to fight Leopards, Chieftains and Maus's in my T-44-100, i will intentionally leave the match because its not fun to pay the repair price for getting REKT by the MM.

I agree with the OP, there should be a big punishment for early quitters. This is getting worse day after day. In the tournaments the punishment should be even bigger, like 3 day ban from the game. They don't respect other people in the team doing this and make them lose the game. I just lost 3 or 4 tournament games because 3 guys left the team after 1 death, leaving us playing with 4 against 7.

Solution: don't allow players with just one vehicle to join the game and ban them for at least 1 day for early quitting. No exceptions.

Actually, we have a regular spread of 1.0 to deal with, not 8.0. And yes, I have taken down many Hurricanes with a reserve plane. And I was shot down by planes that were much lower in BR than me. I don't go crying if I end up at the bottom.

BR can be problematic even in Tiers I-III.

Flying out an obviously under battle rated plane and finding yourself near the top of the BR spread is going to put you at quite an advantage if you know how to fly the thing 'and not part of the reason is BR is so low'

And vis-versa. Some planes have a heavy battle rating purely because they are easy to fly. So when pitted against far more powerful planes or the same battle rating it can feel like you are at the bottom of the spread even when you are not. The MM and BR systems are then basically relying on the average percentage of lesser skilled players in a match to bring balance. And it doesnt always work.

To be fair is often does and things rarely ever seem really one sided no matter what you are flying. But the system itself does leave player wide open to some very one sided games even in the lower tiers.

@Dodo

I saw to many times what we call "fail squads", guys who love to troll a team and ruin a game: one of 4 bring a BR 8.0 line, other 3 bring biplanes or tier I or II planes ( NOT one or two, but ALL FRAKING LINE ! - "because they want to play with a friend....")

Usually they fall from sky like flies on first  minute, victims of Mig.s 15 and Hunters, who jump all on them for an easy kill.

You can defend one, two BnZ, but not 4-5 in less then 10 sec, in a biplane.

Usually they get clubbed fast then they simply leave with a shameful 0 - 8 kills/deaths, and the team must fight with 3-4 players less the rest of the game.

Guess what : that team loose most of times.

I do keep also a low tier plane (like a 3,7 Spit on my top line of brits, with the Hunter and the rest of the BR 8.0 and 9.0 planes, for dom maps with airfields since there a prop can cap much easier - but I will not spawn in a tier I or II  plane in a ground strike map, when the game its Tier V and BR 8.0 and 9.0;

will be foolish, tough.and will be an useless suicide.

Sorry, but you are missing my point it seems. Said scenario will not happen unless you (deliberately or foolishly) bring it about. If my lineup is based on biplanes around 1.0 to 1.3, it will only meet opponents it can deal with. So while being botton tier isn't going to make life easy, you still can win the mission.

The statement I was initially refering to was made by the previous poster: "Lets see here, how about being pitted up against an opposing team where almost all their players are 1 whole BR higher."

And I am saying, that +1 (from the matchmaker) is imho usually your smallest problem. Stock planes, good 4-squads are far more of a hurdle to victory. If I meet +1 in my spaded planes, I don't really feel disadvantaged. And I surely wouldn't use it as an excuse for failing to win. Or even worse, leave the game, like the guy I quoted. He obviously checked the stats before playing. I just couldn't be bothered.

Dodo, you are still "green", I saw your profile, most of your lines are tier II and III, the highest plane I saw was a japanese G8, I think - and even that one looks stock (1 battle).

Later you will enter Tier IV and V, and more you will advance, more differences you will find between of BR planes; If now you can handle easily a BR of 1.3 difference (max diff on MM its NOT 1.0 but yes 1,3) you will learn at tier IV a 1.0 or 1,3 may be something more harder to handle, and at Tier V top, a BR of 1.0 or 1.3 easy become the difference between  clubbing or running  for your life.

Like on GF, you may find a difference of 1.0 on upper Tier V - for pilots with equal skills - can be much harder to handle.

A Mig 17 or a Hunter fully spaded vs an BR 8.0 jet may become untouchable, if the pilot its decent. Reaction times are greatly reduced (3-4 km can be cover in just few seconds here) , the guns are THE BEST in-game (accuracy, RoF, volume, etc) and no mistakes are tolerated; If on Tier I and II you can still fight and even get kills with a hole on wings, or a fire at engine, the smallest hit in a Jet engine can easily reduce that plane at nothing in just few minutes...

To conclude,

BR differences means MORE AND MORE further you advance in-game, so, when I read what you wrote (BR means "little") I laugh to myself, then I check your profile and I understand why you come to such  conclusion. Please have patience and realize things may (and will...) drastically change once you advance on upper tiers.

Until then, I wish you "god speed" and glorious battles   !

No doubt, I am still green. I only have one spaded Rank IV plane, the G5N1. (Aside from unflown premium ones). I do wait for more BR ~6.0 planes in the japanese tech tree to become available before working with the G8N1. Up to the G5N1, BR was not my problem.

Aside from that, the usual argument here is, that at lower ranks, +-1 BR makes a lot of difference. And it would matter less, when you get higher. You now claim the opposite. I claim the middle: Up to where I was in the game, it was not so important. Yes of course it is nice to be top tier, no doubt. But so far I don't even check where I am, let alone quit because of it.

With the MM, the maximum difference is 1.3 only IF you allow it. You could keep it at 1 if you like, by downtiering.

Maybe I am too poor a player, but to me in this game there is only a slim margin beween "clubbing" and "running for my life" - no matter which plane I sit in. (OK, exclude the PBY, she sits it out.)
