Ingame decals using historically (on air and ground vehicles)

Robert Stanford "Bob" Tuck's "Burma" (after the squadron nickname) art on his Hurricane Mk Ia with conventional brown/green RAF camo - on right side under the canopy

No.257 Squadron - he used later Mk IIc and Spitfire Mk V

tuck2.jpg

the victory marks in line on the other side of case

9f47db561b918dbba640b9fc98715265.jpg

Lloyd Vernon "Chad" Chadburn's "Lynx" (after the squadron insignia) art on his Spitfire Mk IX with conventional grey/green RAF camo - left side on nose under the exhaust

No.416 Squadron - he used earlier Spitfire Mk V B and C too

PL-15079.jpg

looks good the "Squadron Leader" marker between the "City of Winnipeg" inscription and the victory marks.

"In 60 sorties escorting the USAF, only one Marauder was lost to enemy fighters.  In recognition of the safe passage Chad provided to the bomber crews, the American crews nicknamed him “The Angel”."

This is unnecessary according to me, because I update this topic up to several times per day.

but

Thank you! :salute:

here some other allied bomber nose art

the famous US "Memphis Belle" from Robert Knight "Andy" Morgan's B-17F - left side on nose and good look the victory marks after it

source of the name - Morgan's sweetheart lived in Memphis, but the full name Memphis Belle was name the steamboat in the "Lady for a Night" American drama film

Morgan originally intended to call the B-17, Little One, after his pet name for her and this look over the name maybe.

MemphisBelle_crew_USAF.jpg

the British "Sugar’s Blues" (after Bob Laturner pilot's favorite jazz song) art - two side under the canopy of Lancaster Mk X and good look the mission marker before it

No.428 Squadron RCAF

LastCall13.jpg

the British big "Hell Razor" art - left side of nose of Lancaster Mk X (the other nickname "Hell Diver") - No.420 Squadron RCAF

  • 2 weeks later...

the Portuguese "Mosquito" insignia from the Esquadrilha Expedicionária de Caça Nº 1 (1st Expeditionary Fighter Squadron)

the information is incorrect, because the 2nd Squadron used this insignia

on the two side of fulsage of Gladiator Mk II - good look the Portuguese rounel on the on top and bottom of wing and the Portuguese flag on the tail

the painting was full green with light blue underside (isn't in game), but this plane was in service with RAF camo painting too

%25281938-1953%2529+-+Gloster+Gladiator+

the Brasil "1st Fighter Aviation Group" (1 GAVCA - 1º Grupo de Aviação de Caça) - the unit was the part of US 350th Fighter Group in Italy

left side of nose of P-47D (25, 27 and 30 versions) - this insignia was in service with two colour (green and natural silver)

the planes used the US Air Force roundel instead the Brazilian roundel on the wings and the fulsage

7068503555_299c0ae86d_b.jpg

and with full silver colour

2751754462_f3b2915c9b_b.jpg

the insignia made on the US ship on the way to Italy - the interpretation of insignia is very complex

ostrich in Brazilian pilot cap - speed and maneuverability of fighter aircrafts

the shield means the robustness of the P-47 and the revolver was the firepower

and the war cry "Senta a Púa" can also be understood as "Feel the stick" or "Go down the big stick"

hey i have a suggestion,i know its only 5 pages but loading so many pictures sometime takes too much time, can you make index in your first post ? it will make life easier for anyone looking for specific plane or tank ,i just finished page 3 :mitraljez:  looking here and adding decals is simple task but still takes lot of time.

no need to add link in it ,just add it in spoiler like this ,keep up the good work :salute:

Thank you the idea, but this is complex to it according to me. I show some example to it.

You show an index.

Decal name                                                                                            Vehicle name                  Pg No.

French "1er régiment de chasseurs à cheval" (1er RCC) decal                 M5A1                                  2

but this should be good

French "1er régiment de chasseurs à cheval" (1er RCC) decal                 M5A1                                  2

French "1er régiment de chasseurs à cheval" (1er RCC) decal                 M24                                    2

The list would be sooo long

another

French 2nd Armored Division "2e Division Blindée"                                  first past

                                                                                                                  completion                           another page

and some smaller and bigger factor, but if you know what you search .... ;) and the 5 page isn't too much (in time) according to me, but I try... later.

you don't to repeat decal name,it doesn't need to be clean and accurate like books.

French "1er régiment de chasseurs à cheval" (1er RCC) decal          M5a1,M24.kv2,t34,is2                                  2,2,10,20,25

red star victory marks                                                                           yak1,all yak9,i16 late,la5,all il2                    3,4,5,10,25

it just shows one decal can be used on this many vehicles and its position pic is on these different pages. for example you have so many for pics of tiger1 but we can only use 1 version at a time. sorting list by decal will be easy.  there were 3-4 decals i didn't unlocked yet or many are purchase only.  so once i unlock them or before purchasing them it will be  really helpful to know it can be used historically. instead of searching through all used pages again.

its just a suggestion, you can ignore it. but this will be good if you crossed 10-20 page mark.

Some less usable or historically unusable decal Vol.1

I don't understand, why selected the developers these insignias.

the German "FFS A/B 24" (Flugzeugführerschulen A/B 24 - Pilot School) - the unit used only not ingame training planes - the unit closed in 1943

on a He 72

file.php?id=358029&mode=view

on a Klemm Kl 35

36148920565_a4440500c3_o.jpg

German 7 Flieger Division - This was a Fallschirmjäger (Paratrooper) division - the unit used only not ingame Ju 52 transporter planes

German I./KGzbV 1 (Kampfgeschwader z.b.V. 1 - Transport) - the unit used only not ingame Ju 52 transporter planes

file.php?id=372796&mode=view

35759283850_e2b0c268f0_o.jpg

and the German unidentified (Ju 52 silhouette over the globe) what was another transport unit likely - Why need an unidentified insignia, when many famos unit insignia missing from the game?

I saw the new "Battle Task" prize and I searched it for you.

USAF 19th Bomb Group - right side of nose of B-29

the "Myasis Dragon" inscription missing from the ingame decal - it censored (white overpaint), when the plane redirected from the 92nd Bomb Group to 19th BG

myasisdragon.jpg

In the WW2 was a B-17 and a B-24 with this nickname - this inspiration this plane name maybe

any decals used on the Fw 189? Or the IT-1?

I searched what are you asked, but I haven't good news.

I don't found decal what you can use on the Fw 189 at the Axis parts. I have some idea, but...

FW 189 DECAL SUGGESIONS

The IT-1 made in small numbers (110) and was short time in service (1968-70).

The units what used this tank was the Carpathian and Belorussian Military District (70th and 96th Tank Destroyer Battalion).

I saw pictures from the service times, but I don't saw insignias. I saw only tactical number on the turret of IT-1.
