Important Info:

  • Aircraft from the following battle ratings are available:
    • 3.3 - 4.7 and 4.7 - 6.3
  • The rules for selecting vehicles have been changed (compared to last opening)

From 11:00 GMT on March 5rd till 11:00 GMT on March 9th

"Enduring Confrontation" (RB) is available!

You can find it in the "Events and Tournaments" tab in the game's menu.

This event may be disabled in the case of any unexpected issues.

About Enduring Confrontation:

“Enduring Confrontation” (EC) is a game mode featuring air battles lasting several hours in which victory depends on the completion of various dynamically changing tasks and missions unique to each class of aircraft. Players can join an ongoing EC match at any point except for the last five minutes of battle. If a player leaves a running EC match, it’s also possible for him to join back at a later point in time - if there is an available slot in the team.

Any aircraft repairs in this mode are completely free, but every flyout is paid for with Silver Lions. Having just joined the session, the player has to start with weaker aircraft, gaining access to more powerful and dangerous machines only after some time in battle, which can be reduced by destroying enemy ground targets such as bases and airfields as well as shooting down enemy player aircraft.

Main objectives include the reconnaissance of enemy airfields, search and destroy missions, the interception of enemy aircraft and many others, which will be added as the development of the game mode progresses. Whenever a mission or task in an ongoing EC match has been completed, the game generates another procedural mission.

Through active participation in battle, players earn ‘Air Domination Points’ (ADP) for their team which, combined, represent the team’s total ADP score. At the end of the session, the team with the greater ADP score wins the match.

When flying out an aircraft, the aircraft’s class (e.g. Attacker) at that Battle Rating will not be immediately available again to the player. Thus, for the next flyout, the player has to either change the class or BR of the aircraft he wants to fly.

Features of Enduring Confrontation:

  • Rewards earned in battle are awarded to the player immediately after leaving an EC session, regardless of the outcome of battle.
  • After a player has chosen a certain aircraft, it will be locked for some time starting from the moment the aircraft has been destroyed. E.g. if the vehicle is available once per 30 minutes, a player can chose it 30 minutes after his vehicle was destroyed, not after he started to fly it.
  • The above also implies that a player who managed to land on an allied airfield will be able to swap out his vehicle for another choice, without restarting the timer.
  • Vehicles of the same BR and class share a common timer. Currently, two groups with common timers exist: Fighters (including light, heavy and naval) and Bombers (including all bombers and attackers). It will be useful to keep aircraft of all types in your preset so you won’t be left without an aircraft to fly in the midst of battle.
  • Timer duration depends on Battle Ratings. The higher the BR, the longer the timer duration will be.
  • Vehicles of the lower BR spectrum for a specific session do not come with a timer and are always available.
  • Airfields are further from each other than in previous EC tests.
  • Each spotted enemy airfield is a possible target. A mission to destroy it will be assigned.
  • A team that has had all its airfields destroyed will be given a 90 second period where during which players will not only be unable to respawn but their airfields will also not restore
  • A destroyed airfield will be restored after a set time and could reappear at a different location.
  • The hunters now appear less often and from now on they patrol the location and can be spotted from afar so a player can take some measures against them.
  • Reconnaissance aircraft appear independently of each other (in previous test they appeared simultaneously).
  • Reconnaissance aircraft now try to get back behind their lines if they are damaged.
  • Reconnaissance aircraft now scout for longer period of time and “circle” over the enemy positions .
  • Reconnaissance aircraft have several spawn points (previously they had only one).
  • Frontline mechanics are not implemented on Khalkhin Gol (Stalingrad had one)

We'll see you in the skies! Enjoy the Enduring Confrontations!

I can only join with German planes. Anyone else having this problem?

Edit_ found the problem. Obviously it is only possible to join, when there is at least 1 plane in crew slots at an EXACTLY BR of 4.7.

Welcome to the broken queue nightmare of brec on the allied side. Check all the posts in the simulator section to see how many threads there are complaining about that mode in its current state.

Hmm, not working for me...

//edit - added two more screenshots. Well, I guess I'll skip this testing since it is impossible to join a battle.

You forgot one valuable feature:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ges2a9V3Q5o

Without it players could stay in-game when their airfields are destroyed for the so-called 90 second period.

Big? You mean that one small line that is very easy to miss?

Maybe if it were written on the pop up message, then I would notice. But this is probably too much to ask, cause it would be GUI design based on logic... which obviously WT lacks.

Anyway I do not own any decent BR 3.3 plane, so no point in playing anyway.

Funny thing I noticed in the rank IV EC is that you can't enter the game without a BR 4.7 vehicle, just as you said. However you don't need a BR 4.7 vehicle to spawn. You can spawn in a 5.0 aircraft. Last time I tried this in SB, I had to wait 4 minutes.

Strange, huh

Just wasted 65l SL for crew assignment for nothing.

Anyway using spawn points seems a bit interesting, but being stuck in a beaufighter/mosquito until you earn them sucks.

Oh boy, I know what I'm gonna play later. Now all we need is an enduring confrontation for Ground Forces and my life will be almost complete.

Awesome, please do keep on developing this mode, it certainly is bringing War Thunder realistic into the right directions!

Please do focus on creating a historical line-up in this event though, as I believe the Battle Rating system serves this ill. It just doesn't make any sense to have an aircraft as powerful as the P-47D be an instant spawnable aircraft.

I just quited during a 3.3/4.7 match playing for Japan. Reason? No fresh players respawn! We were 3 "humans" against the 16 enemies. Ah, we had AI planes on our side (Tetsuo y sus muchachos), but they just stand afk in the airfields beeing easy scores for enemy bombers. I also did not see a timer to change plane. I had to pay to start but for using the A7M1 and A7M2 I need to score some points before I could use them. No free planes, but still some nice endgame rewards in SL. Spoting range should be checked as well, I saw russian enemies 30km + from me, and they had no japanese planes to mark them.

Will make a second atempt on this. I love this game mode but one expects some improvement every time the event comes up, not these situations...

I don't own any of these planes... except maybe the spitfire which sucks anyway. The point is - I don't like the idea of playing lowtier garbage only to get clubbed by other people who are in the battle long enough to use top tier planes.

EC is definitely the way to go! I hope with further improvement this will become the standard RB or at least a permanent event option.

Currently there seems to be little to no ground targets (tanks & vehicles) for attackers to attack, which is a big problem. I believe the victory tickets should be determined by the ground battle waged by the AI and not air superiority. Most players head straight for engaging enemy fighters so we don't need to encourage dogfighting as a lot of people will always choose that over playing objectives.

Anyway this is great work!

Being forced to start with a 4.7 in the 4.7 to 6.3 bracket is utterly horrible as the UK, Firebrand and Mosquito only available choices both very poor planes in many respects.

At least let us start with a 4.3 or 4.0 instead so UK can bring something a little more competative
