T-62 - General information and discussion

I'm tired of seeing misconceptions and incorrect information on the T-62 on the forum, so I figured I'd condense the correct information into a discussion thread because it's obviously going to be added in the game within the coming patches. For now, I'll just get the basics, but at a later point I might do a development and combat history of the vehicle.

 

Soviet Main Battle Tank - T-62

115 mm U5-T2S "Hammer" with "Meteor" two plane stabilization

 

Gun angles: -6° +16°

Traverse speed: 0.5°/s - 16°/s

Rate of fire (combat speed, aimed, fired, and ejected): 4-5 RPM

Penetration (in Soviet standard):

 

3BM3 (APFSDS-T): 

  • 300 mm @ 0° / 1,000 m - 130 mm @ 60° / 1,000 m

3BM4 (APFSDS-T):

  • 250 mm @ 0° / 1,000 m - 130 mm @ 60° / 1,000 m

3BK4 (FS-HEAT-T):

  • 440 mm @ 0° - 200 mm @ 60°

Walls climbed (height): 0.8 m

Ditches crossed (length): 2.85 m

Water forded (depth): 1.4 m without snorkel, 5 m with snorkel

They would also have to add the m60a1 and a chieftain variant or 2 to balance it out...

Found this for the weaker steel round.

 

That's the 3BM4. 

 

Except from gun its not really different from T54 we have in game ?

 

Pretty much. It was better off-road and accelerated faster realistically compared to the T-54A and prior.

only this time you don't get aphe and -6 gun depression!

man i remember how some people were so far up their **** and said that t-62 (not 64) = gamebreaking because too op

 

but speaking of which i tried this game called steel armor blaze of war it has t-62 vs m60 and bloody apds/heatfs takes like 200000000000000000 hits to kill someone

but speaking of which i tried this game called steel armor blaze of war it has t-62 vs m60 and bloody apds/heatfs takes like 200000000000000000 hits to kill someone

The sarcasm in that last comment was so acidic it made the paint on my walls peal off.

AFAIK, the only difference between the 3BM3 and the 3BM4 was the 3BM3 had a tungsten core whereas the 3BM4 was coreless. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Edit: Also, should I make more of these threads for the T-10M and whatnot?

Yeah it would be cool for more of these, it would be most helpful imo if you made ones for tanks that are going to be added first as we already know about vehilces already in game.

 If APFSDS magically gets way better damage than APDS because "oh it has fins (and only russians get it)" it will be so funny. I hope it gets the same shitty damage as all APDS rounds get + the insane amount of penetration they lose when hitting fuel tanks, crew members, turret drives and engine walls like APDS have been doing since the nerf.
