North American F-86F-25

So, is the F-86 in game flying according to specs, or isn't a FM still incorrect? (I don't know what it's current performance in game is)

SubRyan, that data is for the F86F-1, not the F86F-25.

Why do you say that? Because of the reference name? That is how they wrote all the references. If it were a F-86F-1 manual then the reference name would have been T.O. 1F-86F(1)-1

This manual encompasses the entire F series Sabre. If there is a difference in the performance charts, the manual differentiates between types as well

The climb performance charts you gave are at max continuous power, not military. Max continuous is approx 96% throttle or so, military is 100%.

I derped that one up.

Max permissible IAS: 600 knots

Really? Just using the Google converter but that says 690MPH. When you say max permissible IAS, is that its maximum speed in level flight or maximum speed over all? I've heard reports and news reels claiming the F-86 Sabre could dive past Mach 1 to escape MiG-15's.

Max permissible speeds are always done 'by the book' so to say.

If you exceeded those limits then the plane had to be grounded and checked for structural fatigue

So what you guys are saying is it can't pass Mach 1? Or that it can, just not in level flight?

According to the safe limitations placed on the aircraft, it could not pass mach 1 without the possibility of structural damage to the airframe. WT reflects this limit.

So... F-86F can't pass Mach 1. What about the F-86A? Why would they lie about something so big. I mean, other than propaganda reasons, but why would they lie that its almost 100MPH faster than its VNE in a dive.

F-86F very likely could dive past mach 1 IRL, but not safely.

Does the F-25 carry the 16 rockets like the A-5 currently does? If so, that isn't right since it should be 8x2 not 16x1

Woah!

There's two limitations on airplane speed.  IAS VNE.  This is the speed of the air flowing over the wings.  Currently this is limited to 600 knots over the wings.  As you go up in altitude, the air gets thinner, so if you are moving at the same True Air Speed, you are moving at less of an Indicated Air Speed.

The other limitation for the plane is the Mach VNE.  Since Mach has a lower true air speed at higher alts, and IAS has a HIGHER true air speed, at low altitudes a plane is more likely to run into IAS VNE, and at high altitudes run into Mach VNE.

An F-86F-25 could safely crack Mach 1 in a dive.  And in game, too.  As long as the air moving past the wings doesn't crack 600 knots, the F-86F-25 can get up to about Mach 1.3 .
