Google Authenticator Guide. How you can activate it.

Well, I had a problem with it because I didn’t have idea how I could activate it as I don’t have any smartphone or Android so I bring this guide how you can activate Google Authenticator from your computer.

 

1. We show this picture.

 

2. We do Click in the red symbol (Security settings) and we will see a new tab

 

3. When we do click in the picture of the Step 2, we will see this picture so we do click in ENABLE.

 

 

4. When we did click in ENABLE we will show this picture in which we do click in Google Authenticator

 

 

5. Later it will send us to Chrome Web Store, we do click in add to Chrome (AÑADIR A CHROME), we wait and later it will show us if we want to install "AUTHENTICATOR", we do click in where it say (AÑADIR EXTENSIÓN).

 

 

 

6. When it is installed, we will see in the top right a new icon with the symbol of "Google Authenticator" or a bar-code   and we do click in that symbol, and a new small window is opened, we do click in the option that looks like a pencil, we will see the second picture and we do click in the option that looks like a sum symbol.

 

            

 

7. We come back to the tab of the Step 4 and we do click in CONTINUE we stop in the STEP 3: QR CODE SCAN where a bar-code is showed, so we repeat the same step of the Step 6 with the Google Authenticator, we do click in Scan QR Code. You can see the example of the picture #2, we designate or we mark the bar-code and it is read and a small tab is showed and our E-mail is showed, if you dont see your e-mail, please repeat this step.

 

 

 

8. When you have completed all of the Step 7, we continue with the STEP 4: Verification Code, we follow the picture

 

 

9. Finally when we write or put the number in the area, we do click in ACTIVATE and finally WE GOT IT!!!!!

I should mention i did all this but despite my computer saying Verification was on for my account it kept refering me to turn it on again

 

in my case i didn't just need to log out but do a attempt to log on on my last device (in my case my phone), once i attempted a log-in on my phone and logged out on all accounts then it finally the forums/official Gaijin website finally recognized that i indeed did turn on 2 Step Verification.

 

So that detail may be important for people who log on with multiple devices, specifically in the case said devices remain on (like a phone or tablet might). 

 

 

 

Personally as a Windows XP user i have Google Authenticator installed on my mobile phone (Android) and use that to log onto both forums and ingame :)

Very nice comrade, btw so if somebody uses his phone and loses it, he/she would not be able to login anymore? then using google chrome on the PC is much better

This happened to me last Saturday when I made a factory reset of my phone and I was using the Google Authenticator app, lost the codes couldn't login on the forums/store/live.warthunder for 2 days.....

But then I sent a ticket to support and they disabled 2-step authorization for my account, installed the app again and bingo.

So yeah if that happens to any of you guys don't hesitate and send a ticket to support.

Well, If somebody could extend this tutorial I would be glad, because I stuck right now:

 

I made everytning as above, but with WinAuth. I logged, enabled, everything fine, so I turned off computer.

Another day I open a game and it tells me to enter code. Okey, I open WinAuth and... I just realised that I can't generate code for game, because I don't have QR code anymore!

I tried to get it once again via Gaijin account, but it needs to be logged with it. The same thing with try to send a ticket to support. Seriously, I can't contact support :-(

 

Can somebody help? I don't know what to do?

 

(Everytning made on PC, I haven't bothered cell phone)

I think you are doing with WinAuth, I did it too and tht didn't work for me, so If you have Google Chrome, you should use Google Authenticator.

dont know anything about WinAuth either tbh - i've been using Authenticator by Sneezy without any problems (chrome plugin)

though i dont know if changing the authenticator (software) does actually work - i assume it may not since the initial code will

be compared to the newly created one (in the software / plugin itself) as far as i understand ;) one thing that all those authen-

ticators got it commons seems to be the system time. you need to make sure that your system time is correct (some of the

tools even offer to sync the time on the PC)

 

anyway if there is no way to get around this you should be able to open a ticket on the support website without even being 

logged in (so as an anonymous user - in this case you should ofc mention your account details in the ticket ;)

Exactly, the best way is GoogleAuthenticator, He sent me a picture about problem, I know it for that I stop using WinAuth, So I said him, if he can disable 2 step authorization and start again all the process, but in this time using my guide with Authenticator (same you have posted).

 

I will upload a new guide how you can disable the 2 step authorization.

There is a major fault with your code system.... the game its self I play no problems, also beta tester,  no problems then O something new maybe I will spend another few thousand English pounds?? on a Russian T6 Tank that hasn't come out yet, log in Hmm, ok we have sent you a code to your email Hmmm go look ah yes different each time Hmm may be good NO NO NO It does NOT work Then you have the audacity to tell me Ive logged in from somewhere els??? That's funny im in the same chair I always use in the same flat I have been in for the last ten years and the same computer (Not running) through Steam and on a fibre optic internet that I have been on for years and log into this game every day for abot 380 od days spent hundreds of £££s and I carnt get advice from the team because I have to use the same code system to get in??I will go on twitter with this if I don't get a proper response??

I also wont use Google crome it messes your computer up same as windows 10 that will as well mine is windows 7 NO problems until these CODES nothing to do with any authenticater my passwords are 27 didgits long and wont be broken no need for any code system at all

Question Why would you need to Phone someone when your playing War Thunder on your computer? strange people I don't have enough hands for that its bad enough playing on my 42inch screen all tanks hide and seek, planes jump all over the sky, and the ships well of you get them moveing not bad but you will be killed very quickly by a bias German High level probly a 6.0 or 6.7 and you on a 5.0 if your lucky but its a good waste of time

even though you login from the same geological / physical location you may still have a different IP every now and then (unless you got

a fixed IP by your ISP but that's quite uncommon on private / non-business connections nowadays) and thus you appear to login from

a different location / connection. (however this email code authentication seems to be a new addition and therefor there still may be

bugs in the system ^^ who knows... i haven't got any of those codes yet (maybe because i'm using the google authenticator ?!) so i

can't tell for sure)

 

btw this email code has nothing to do with the google authenticator... while it is a 2step authorisation (just like the google authenticator)

you dont need to install an application or use a phone to use it - it's just an additional security layer (which hasn't been announced as far

as i can see and some people may not want or need).

 

oh and while it's not related still i want to mention that you dont need chrome or a phone if you decide to use the google authenticator

either (just in case you want to use the google authenticator sometime (now or in the future)) - there are plugins / addons for pretty much

any browser (and maybe even standalone tools ?!).

 

i get it you dont want this email code thing and you think that you dont need it... but while a 27 digits long password is good and (almost)

impossible to guess or hack all it needs to make it irrelevant is one small malicious program like a keylogger, an insecure browser plugin

or someone who got access to your system (from the outside) - so maybe you want to rethink your stance about a second layer of security.

 

anyway...

what exactly is your problem with the email code system ? and i dont mean that you just dont want it but it sounds as if it is not working

for you at all !? if this is the case you should maybe describe (in details) about what's not working or what happens.

The point I am making is They send this code as a second layer of security but then going back to your email to see what it is then writing it down correctly when returning to where computer is still wating for code ?/enter code? and it dose not work and to get any sense out of it you have to start again and sometimes another code will be sent? with another diferent code and so on?? and yes I have all maner of other security on my computer so key loggers can NOT get dt mine as mine has a scrambler on it plus other And yes My internet Fibre optic system runs of a Modem that alters the IP address frequently at random have you not got that?? so my browser is more than most as my brother is an electrical engineer and computer (wizard) I call him it is more secure than most? Thank You for your comments though it is also like steam and Origin they have problems with security because ((Hackers) go for big companies not the individuals?? I may Not be in the top ranks of games but Play lots of diferent games online and a lot over the years have been spoiled by hackers and cheat modes?? You make an excellent point. XTE is already recording your mobile conversations. You don't want them calling you back and playing what you just said.
