Planned changes to BR and MM

Obviously the most complex air battles Matchmaking currently creates involve rank 5. There are several reasons for this: The first one is the amount of players at this rank, also there is a problem of significant technological differences compared to earlier ranks. Thus the Me-262A-1a  - a German rank 5 fighter - formerly joined the battles with La-15’s,  F9F’s and Venoms where it was difficult to have a significant impact on the battle.

The new change will affect all jet aircraft and they are divided into three groups:

  1. Early era - The first jet aircraft, sometimes inferior to top piston engine aircraft.
  2. Mid era - Vehicles that have mostly better performance than their piston engine counterparts
  3. Top aircraft - Vehicles that completely surpass piston engine aviation.

All groups will be connected with each other. Thus early and mid era machines will not be matched with top aircraft. E.g. The Soviet Yak-15 in RB may meet the MiG-9, but will never see a Meteor F Mk.III. See the details in the sheet below.

Equally Important:

Also, all Battle Rank brackets after BR 6.7 will have restrictions to the amount of top vehicles. If the battle was assembled with BR +/- 1.0 (for example 6.7 - 7.7), the amount of top aircraft included in a battle can not be higher than 25% for the team.

A special thank you to those players who participated in the constructive discussion of ideas to improve the gameplay on the highest ranks. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

We will announce the exact date of the BR changes on the main game server in due time. Stay tuned and keep an eye on the War Thunder News!

The sheet doesn't look to be shared properly.

Secondly, in a post elsewhere it was suggested they'd be rolling back AF to a state fairly close to what it was. The above sounds like they are thinking of trying something else entirely - like a tier 5 (early + mid) and tier 6 (late). Any chance on clarifying which is the current plan?

(edit: can see the changes now... so above post not quite as relevant)

Seems to be a much better idea than the last one

Concept is good, now lets see how well its executed

B-57A/B definitely need to be in the BR 9 bracket. Nothing in the BR 7.3 bracket has a real chance of catching them over a sustained period of flight

Meteor F.4's and F.8 should have the same BR

THANK YOU! :salute:

You've just made the idea of playing early era jets interesting again (have a few unlocked but didn't even bother buying them).

If you'd do something similar with tanks as well you'd be absolutely golden cause the situation there is very similar.

Cheers.

Looks good, but i'm surprised that the Meteor F Mk 3 and Vampire have higher BRs compared to other early jets. Even the F-80C and MiG-9L are still 7.0.

Most planes are at the correct BR, but some minor changes would be appreciated. :good:

Looks like the brackets can work.

But BR's still worry me, seeing a lot at mixed ratings, some too high others too low.

Hopefully they get changed once gaijin gets enough "information" (quoted because no-one knows what they base it on)

HA. Wow. Amazing... F-80C-10, BR 6.7, in brackets able to see all the way down to the 109 G-10 and Spit 22, and all the way up to the heady heights of the MiG-9/L, 262 A, and the R2Y2s. Meteor F Mk 3, BR 8.0, in brackets able to see all the way down tot he MiG-9/L, 262 A, and the R2Y2s, and all the way up to the MiG-15bis and the F-86F-2. The F-80C notably out performs the Meteor in game, and now they will never meet, but the the Shooting Star with the lower BR, not the Meatbox. Genius.

Meteor F3 at 8.0 while the Ho229 is at 7.0? Really? Wasn't the Ho already sealclubbing it enough at the same BR?
And the airspawning Arado C3 at 7.0 too...

Meteor F4's at the same BR as the F3 at 8.0? That's just wrong.

Then we have both MiG-15's and all Sabres at 9.0. All of them. No.

Erm, so the earliest British jets are now BR8?  They were flying in 1944 and now they have to face all the post war and cold war jets like Mig15bis and F86-F2
