Combat Etiquette

Small note...i play PS4...sending messages is messy and very limited...

Only time i did it I lost 10s once to apologize to a friendly i crashed into (in the air...dumbest thing i ever did in the game).

I could only do it because i was climbing from initial point...

It is not practical...much less to add text!

Pitty, because there are times some chat would help a lot...

And more on subject...i still cant understand why players will start shooting wildly on game entry...almost EVERY tanks game someone do it...

I just saw a perfect example of this this morning as well as had one recently myself.  I accidentally turned an M551 sideways leaving the spawn we straightened out and he followed me all through the first objective shooting me up.  This morning I was spectating and 2 guys were going at it all through a battle.  Shooting and chasing each other.  Passive aggressive behavior is amuck out there.

Now that we hit 2018.. Im gonna be short on this but it should be helpful to many.

1. Do not spawn camp in the beginning of the game air/tank. It will **** off many players and they will do it on the next match for revenge even though the person that inflicted the spawnkilling isn't on their next match. focus on the objective and let the enemy team have a fighting chance to do..well anything away from the spawn point.

2. If you see a tank flipped near you, don't be an **** and help tow him out. the person will appreciate your help and most likely will help you with your goals.

3. Light tanks/light tank destroyers like m18s should stay with an SPAA once in while. The light tanks can't kill a plane with their 1x 50cal and the spaa can't kill any worthy tanks.. if you stay together, you will last a very long time.

4. If a tanker or plane has beaten an isolated player to death and needs one more hit to get the kill, don't be theft. Let him get the kill that he deserve. Unlike everyone else, there are people trying to earn stuff through warbonds.

5. depending on your tanks, if you get hit and you're damaged terribly but you're mobile, don't repair. Instead, drive to the nearest cover or ally and then repair. otherwise, you're free food to the enemy.

6. To make good SL in ground force, find a rank line up that you feel confident enough to get a minumum of 3 kills in whether you're under or over tiered. Find the cheapest ammo in your loudout(not HE) and stock up on that, then maybe buy 5 HEAT/HEATFS. Find a tank that has the least repair cost and go for that vehicle. Also, if you know 100% you're gonna die after being hit and have no way surviving the next, then don't use up your parts or FPE. They cost a lot of SL, so don't use it unless you know you will survive. To increase your survival, don't fill up your ammo racks. Instead, bring whatever ammo is in the lowest center point. EX: Tiger 2H roughly 28 rounds is best to remove the turret rack. Hellcat: 10 rounds for the lowest ammo hull location. M26 variants: whatever it is to remove the turret rack. In a hull down position where you're hiding behind a hill, you have a better chance of surviving.

In about 3 weeks, you will roughly make 2,000,000sl with boosters.

That would be awesome !!  Get back the 2,000,000 I've spent this month.  Ya, I don't know how to play, but it's fun.  lol

Oh, one other thing I noticed recently was a guy saying to someone he hopes his parents die of stage 4 cancer?  Man, there should be some kind of suspension for these players to try to tech them some manners.  For a comment like that I would ban them if it had been one of my my squad members, an employee, or one of my children.  But that's not the way in this world anymore.   lol

If you see that sort of thing going on, please report whilst in that match: makes it much easier for it to be seen and dealt with accordingly. Same here: if you see a post like that, report it, and let us deal with it.

That is probably a result of hardcore spawn camping in the beginning of the game. When someone gets owned like that 5x in a row with no chance to fight back in your spawn point for 30 minutes... you tend to have a breaking point.

PantherAl (Posted )

But that doesn't excuse it.

My own etiquette :
A : air battles
1 : I dont ram, ever, even in last resort or whatever, I'm playing like a real pilot would do, saving my life is better than killing a foe (accidents do happen tho, but I try to avoid them)

2: I dont shoot at teammates on purpose (yes, as crazy as it sounds people still do that...), ever, one stray bullet in planes can be devastating, its not fun nor usefull

3 : I dont "over shoot" planes ie : I dont strafe a dead plane for assists or hit points (except when bombers because of random xxxx gunner luck shot), and I usually dont shoot a plane on air strip waiting for repair (except on useless domination maps with airfield cap), might sounds idiotic but I think it is "cheap" and I dont like this.

B : On tanks
One and only rule, BE FREAKING ACTIVE!!! Nothing is more infuriating than "almost solo ing" the match, with 3 caps and 6 to 10 kills, just to see the enemy killing you, and the rest of your team doing nothing to consolidate the advantage, people doing random stuffs instead of preventing the cap, people dying one by one instead of regrouping, or people simply staying hidden in a fcin bush because their kda is more precious than anything in the world, "hey dumbf**k! I died 3 times for you, I played hard and tryed to win, my repair costs is high because I did really commit to this game hence my death, with one little effort from you we would've win the game and all would have been happy because of SL and RP rain, dont let my efforts go to waste and act a bit more active than a IA please!"

Cheers.

Is there a button to click during a game to just report something?  I'm an idiot with gaming so forgive me.

A breaking point?  It's a game.  Talk to me when you got air mobile into enemy territory and the no choppers showed up at the extraction point.  LOL.  In reality?  And in an actual combat zone?  I think most people on here will never understand.  You can't control the uncontrollable.  It's free will.  You have to do what you feel is right.  I had a guy shooting me up this morning in the position he wanted in a battle.  I relented and let him have it.  lol  It's a game and it's not worth wasting contact time.   enjoy the game and will until these lions run out.  I love the game, but  I'll find something else.

BTW, How do you report something?  Ya, I'm and idiot. lol

In game, while it is still running, pull up the score board, and right click on the name.   At that point you select the reason for the report, and with as much reasonable detail as possible, say why you are reporting him.  Not a GM, so not sure how much info and what sort they want, but figure the more you provide and the more timely, the easier it is to review and act if needed - we all get mad at spawn campers, but not all spawn camping is actually something that can be acted upon from my personal understanding of things.

@PantherAl  According to FlyingLethrneck, spawn camping of any kind is not against the rules (If that's what you meant), as he highlights here:

Thanks.  I'll give it a try.  On my macbook I seem to have a difficult  time with those ops  lol

I'd add a caveat to #2 and that's to help only when it's viable and it's quickly doable. I once spent over 5 minutes trying to right someone while the team got stomped; sometimes it's just better to J out and get back in the fight.

If I've flipped in an active/exposed or remote area, I'm probably not going to ask for help.

if I've flipped in a covered area near other players... please, 0.

If I've flipped and you're helping and the rope keeps popping off, look at team chat, I'm probably trying to tell you to RUN!

On machine guns
Don't:-
- Spray stuff around. Veteran players use their machine guns to indicate targets to each other, firing into the air just shows you're not really, well, 'adult'
- Don't shoot up other players even though it doesn't hurt them. The enemy is always watching and listening. You have given away both your positions>
- Don't shoot those tasty barage balloons. Your tracers are showing the enemy exactly where to artillery strike

Do:-
- Use your machine guns to show your side where the enemy is, especially if you're mobility killed. This lets your team members deal with your problem for you and can even make a wary enemy back off rather than follow you to where you're licking your wounds, I mean 'repairing'
- Use your machine guns to spam-out the enemy tankers vision while creeping backwards and forwards. They may shoot blindly and one shot in this game usually does the job, so make him miss it

Chat is a TACTICAL channel - please don't distract your team with irrelevant comment.  We don't need to hear ping excuses or buddy chat.

what!

irrelevant comments and funny buddy chats is what make this game so enjoyable! you're nuts to believe that the chat is made for you to hear "capture the A point" 100x "capture the B point" 100x and on and on and oooonnn.

- pay attention to the minimap, it will give you lots of useful info

- do not form "lemming trains", there are also flanks and even if it looks impossible, 2-3 tanks can protect flanks and possibly change the outcome (look at the minimap and help when and where needed)

- if you have heavily armored tank, use it to cover your teammates while they finish repairs, cap points...; you can use that armor to block direct hits if situation allows you to do so, broken down tank is a sitting duck waiting for death

- do not rush towards enemy (like many players do) if he is pinned down; flanks might be a better idea, help from the team is even better

- don't cry about "stolen kills"; victory is what matters the most (and gives you the most rewards)

- if you can, wait for teammates to enter capture points (when possible, don't wait till they cross half the map)

- DO NOT spawn a fighter if the team is overrun by the enemy force on the ground (evaluate the situation; one tank might save the day... having 5 fighters in the skies does nothing to tanks (often seen in the games))

- when capturing enemy point, make sure to form a circle, spread out; one well placed bomb will take you all out, canceling the cap and possible victory (I managed to drop a bomb on 5 tanks just a sec before cap; enemy team lost the game because of this mistake; one tank could've saved the day if he was further away)

- use smoke launchers to cover you team if needed, but DO NOT spam the whole area and make your team blind and vulnerable to enemy attack

- if you spawn SPAA, PLEASE watch the skies, stay behind MBT's and advance along them while providing air cover.... don't go on a tank hunt that will get you killed, leaving your team unprotected from air attacks

- if you spawn fighter, use it as it should be used. Many people spawn fighter planes and keep shooting tanks while doing 0 dmg and they leave allied bombers/attackers unprotected and vulnerable to enemy countermeasures. If there are enemy planes, try to counter; if the sky is clear you can provide recon task for the team, marking tanks on the ground for easier victory

- work together, communicate, it will help you a lot even in random battles (had a great game with 2 Leo's few mins ago. 3 of us went to deep forest and covered each other making our way to the enemy base; if we went alone and individually, we'd be all be dead for sure)

One universal rule for all;

DO NOT RUSH; please, take some time, position your tank, asses the situation on the field and then go. It seems like everyone is doing their best to die before others. There is plenty of time to reach the cap points and create an ambush for the enemy.

Its good to at least say 'sorry' when you have stuffed up or made someone stuff up. It means that you acknowlege that you've done wrong and most of the time it makes you not look so much like a complete 'J*** :)'.
