Wrong slope modifiers for 47 degree plate and additional data about slopes.

OUTDATED

I noticed something wrong with sherman 76 armor. game give 47 degree armor mod 1.5-1.6 with is similar to normal LOS thickness about 90-100mm (im not talking about armor inspector) resulting in strange penetrations from 100mm pen less guns against 0 degree, (even SMK is able to pen m4a3e8 armor....(can't put replay outdated)) so it is even less than APBC mod.

According to WWII Ballistic armor (with is war thunder using if i remember correctly) mod for 47 degree is varies from 1.65-2.2 based on shell type (APCBC/APC 2.0, AP 2.2, APBC 1.65) so 64mm at 2  =  128mm

this also correct wrong effective armor of sherman M4 50.8mm/55 and m4a2 64mm/47 using T/D ratio (Americans wanted the similar efficient armor)

T/D based on 64mm

50.8/64=`0.8

slope effectiveness of 55 degree at 0.8 T/D =2.45 * 50.8mm =124mm effective armor

slope effectiveness of 47 degree at 1 T/D =1.95 * 64mm =125mm effective armor

T/D based on 50.8mm

slope effectiveness of 55 degree at 1.0 T/D =2.55 * 50.8mm =130mm effective armor

slope effectiveness of 47 degree at 1.25 T/D =2.05 * 64mm =131mm effective armor

in game 50.8/55 is better

Problem is with missing T/D ratio and strange working normalization

found why "normalization" still doing research

All shells in game but maybe one outlier have de-normalization and should be less effective after the normalization is taken into account. Reason being their T/D was low (also APHE - the explosive was in real end, giving shell better stability but less normalizing effect).

im still doing reasearch about penetration mechanic...

what i found:

1. some guns have adjusted penetration ability against sloped armor (someone sad that they do that because of missing T/D ratio, but that don't help because T/D ratio helps high thickness armor and is against low thickness armor, when that adjustment is against both)

2. normalization (more formally counter denormalization) god hell what they did with that thing it should be removed in 1.49 along with bounce chance:

1 Calculating penetration against 100mm plate at 30 degree

LOS for 100mm=115mm

without normalization

APCBC/APC=128mm

AP=`130mm (adjusted from 35 degree)

APBC=115mm

with 4 degree

APCBC/APC=120mm

AP=close to 120mm

APBC=110mm lower than LOS

 

calculating penetration against 100mm plate at 45 degree

LOS for 100mm=141mm

without normalization

APCBC/APC=180mm

AP=200mm

APBC=145mm

with 4 degree

APCBC/APC=160mm

AP=170mm

APBC=130mm! below LOS armor...

 

calculating penetration against 100mm plate at 55 degree

LOS for 100mm=174mm

without normalization

APCBC/APC=255mm

AP=325mm

APBC=210mm

with 4 degree

APCBC/APC=220mm

AP=275mm

APBC=175mm close to LOS very close...

 

ONLY LONG KINETIC PENETRATORS WITH HIGH DENSITY CORE CAN GO BELOW LOS ARMOR.... (APFSDS, not ones with steel core thought)

normalization helps go close to LOS but newer help to go below LOS armor....

2 normalization is based on T/D ratio, plate angle and mainly shell (not propellant) length it helps defeat low thickness angled armor like 75mm HV vs t34 not medium thickness m4a3 armor.

for some reason game use strange angles for m4, m4a3 tanks

m4 get 60 degree slope by base and 59 against APCBC (armor viewer 54)

m4a3 get 50 degree slope by base and 49 against APCBC (armor viewer 37)

still doing further research but i takes time with i don't have right now.
