La_Fayette 7 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 Don't know if this has been already discussed in this FRB forum but I don't clearly understand how battles level matching works... I mean I'm flying with an old "no rank" P26 peashooter in FRB battles and imagine I would battle with/against 0-1 rank planes.... So I start my engine, take off, gain altitude, ready to go to war, happily whistling in the raising sun and full of innocent enthusiasm.... but then little did he know....where things start getting exciting... Boom.... got shot by a 109... This crying moment of solitude when you see your plane miserably diving and crashing on the ground.... Did I missed something ?? Is planes rank matching not working ? Is it something Devs are working on for future releases ? I like to fly those old planes but honestly I don't want to feel like being a turkey chased by a bunch of enraged dogs...
habahnow 12 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 i believe the problem you are encountering is caused by a lack of players in Full Realistic Battles. you may need to play at a different time but even that will not completely solve your problems because to my knowledge, FRB has the smallest player base of all the game modes so the game puts you with whoever is playing.
Avocet 128 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 Yes, the poster above me is correct. The matchmaker tries to pick people flying equal planes, but it does also have a goal to keep people from waiting forever for a match. It will eventually just throw many levels into the same match rather than making you sit there for half a day until enough other tier 0-1s sign up. Keep an eye on the numbers of people in the queue by level while you're waiting. If there aren't typically very many at your level, you're likely to see the "big boys" in battle. La_Fayette 7 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 Ok thanks, that makes sense as I tried an other game and it was full of P26 and F2A ! Let's hope in the future the number of FRB players will increase !

Colonel_Panic 738 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 Although I prefer playing FRB, sometimes when leveling past an airplane or when I frequently get much too unfavourable matchups (like i16 vs me262...), I switch to HB for a bit. Atleast at these lower levels it goes quick to gain rank to the next one. I think around rank 4-6 depending on nation, it's not such a big issue anymore as you can be useful in other ways almost regardless of the competition. But if you just want to play a rank 0 plane for fun in FRB, I guess you will very rarely have a decent matchup.
La_Fayette 7 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 Just take the Buffalo for a spin and watch 109's run away in terror . Yes I've seen that the Buffalo as a short turn time so I should definitely try to outmaneuver like this !
Stubb 19 Report post Posted March 25, 2013 (...) I don't want to feel like being a turkey chased by a bunch of enraged dogs... Unfortunately this is pretty common. US planes normally are 6-7 (Airacobras, Hellcats...) while the germans show the best they have to offer, typically Gustavs (tier 9) and FW Antons (tier 11) and a few rocket-men and 262s. Sometimes you can see some Stukas (a bit of solace). I´m struggling in FRB for several reasons: spotting makes me feel dizzy and my head aches so bad, I´m not a good fighter, the germans have good planes and their pilots are usually outstanding. Good luck up there, Monsieur!

R_Dash 17 Report post Posted March 28, 2013 Is there a maximum difference in ranks that can be thrown into a match together? I just started playing last night and was really interested in playing full real rather than arcade but noticed the population was very low. I was always bad at arcade style games in past sims I played but somehow managed to do reasonably well in full real modes so I was hoping the full real games would have a bit more players.
