                                                  A Brief Amount of History of the Plane

-The  Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Würger (in English Shrike and in Russian, сорокопут) was a single seat fighter, interceptor, fighter-bomber, night fighter, and mono-plane made in the late 1930s and was widely used in World War II. Its well-known counter part the Bf 109 this plane became backbone of the Luftwaffle Jagdwaffe (fighter air-force). The Fw 190's twin-row BMW 801 radial engine was the engine that powered most operational Fw 190's which enabled it to carry lager loads than the Bf 190.

In the Eastern Front it saw a lot of success in the specialised ground attack untits called Schlachtgeschwader (Battle Wings or Strike Wings) from October 1943 onwards, following the redesignation of all former Sturzkampfgeschwader dive-bomber wings at that time.

Though Soviet pilots considered the Bf 109 the greater threat, the Fw 190 and its pilots proved just as capable as the "lean" (to VVS pilots) inverted V-12 inline-powered Messerschmitt in aerial combat. In the opinion of German Pilots who flew both, the Fw 190 provided increased firepower and manoeuvrability at low to medium altitude. Still, it never entirely replaced the Bf 109.

It had eight operators (tell if you include Great Britain and Yougslavia as they only had one plane)

They were:

 Czechoslovakia, France, Nazi, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Spanish State, Romania, Turkey. Great Britain, and Yougslavia.

                                 The main tactic you should do when flying this plane:

The best tactic this plane is capable of doing is Boom and Zoom (BnZ) meaning it is better as an energy fighter (Boom and Zoom or keeping it's energy up instead of turn fighting).

[attachment=139190:Boom-and-Zoom.png]

Boom and zooming is a tactic that takes all of your potential energy and turn it into knetic energy, as you pull up it turns back into potential energy.

There is two type of "Boom and Zooms" Tailing BnZ or Quick burst BnZ. I will explain both.

A Tailing BnZ is when the pilot Boom or Dives to the target and tail him for 2-4 seconds. The benefits of doing this is players get a longer time to aim and a better chance of shooting him or her down, but it comes with a cost you will have less energy to climb back up, and you are more of an easy target for an enemy who came to help his/hers teammate. There is dangerous parts to doing this though. If you stick on your target to long you will lose too much energy and can't climb back up to "safety" or Altitude. If this happens fly to your teammates the enemy has the advantage now. Turning will make your problem worse and makes pilots and "easy" kill to the enemy.

Quick Burst BnZ is when pilots Dive and fire a 1-2 second burst at your enemy and climb back to altitude. The benefits of doing this is you have more speed to climb back up to altitude. The disadvantages are you have a less amount of time to aim and destroying the enemy.

                                  How to engage an enemy if he is going to BnZ on you

If you see a enemy who is about to "pounce" you have some options.

If you are at a high energy state best move is to turn towards him throwing off his aim due and going head on with him.

another one is if you are at a low energy state best move is to turn under him. this will force him to pull up or he/she will lose all of their energy.

Each of these moves can save your life in a dangerous situation of an encounter with a BnZ fighters, but your best bet is to turn in him if you can.

                                                     Talking about it's cannons and guns and how to use them

The Fw 190 has 4 20mm cannons and 2 7.92MGs. each of these are different weapons and models of cannons so they will have a different drop rate (due to size, velocity, wight, and gravity).  Those cannons are two MG FF/M (90 Rounds per gun) and Mg 151's (250 Rounds per gun) The Mg FF/M has a lower muzzle velocity than the Mg 151's so they will drop faster than the 151's. The Mg's (500 Rounds per gun) has a slower drop rate than both cannons due to it's size and velocity. Due to this it will be hard to get all guns on target unless you use vertical targeting. What is Vertical targeting? It angles the guns and cannons to drop all st the same time making it much easier to kill the enemy below.

[attachment=139396:a0017462_5455ae9e1283f.jpg]

As the image shows vertical gun targeting and how the bullets all drop together and it will also show gun convergence. This is when your rounds will "meet" making and 2 second hit deadly if you hit the plane at the right convergence. ( Sorry it is in German)

The Mg's can be used to make the enemy turn, go in the vertical, or dive. Using this to your advantage is extremely helpful, be careful on how much ammo you use too much and you have to "predict" his movements.

                                                 Best ammo to use for it's weapons

The best ammo to use for both cannons is Germanys best Air Target belts. They will destroy fighters and bombers faster than tracers. They are different for both cannons however. For the MG 151's they have: High explosive incendiary shell, armor-piercing shell, and incendiary tracer shell costing 110 silver lions per "per reload" . The Mg FF/M's have: High explosive incendiary shell, Fragmentation incendiary tracer shell (self destroying), and armor piercing high explosive shell. Costing 40 Sliver Lions "per reload"

The Mg's best ammo that is available are Universal it has : Armor-piercing tracer bullet, armor piercing bullet, adjustment incendiary bullet, and armor piercing incendiary bullet. it costing 9 silver lions "per reload".

                                                              Flight model

The fw 190 A4 can take a beating, as well as the BMW 801. The plane can take 4-7 (from experience) hits of AAA and can fly back home repair and fight again. The plane is tough as a rock but it has it's flaws. One of it's biggest weak parts on the plane is the wings. Going on WEP is different however, the plane can not stay on WEP to long at low altitudes. Past 15,000 ft it can stay on wep 3-5 minutes, the higher you are the longer it can stay on WEP. Using this to your advantage pilots can stay in the fight longer than the backbone Bf 109 fighter

                                           The Fw 190 A4 BR (Battle Rating)

The Fw 190 A4's BR is 4.3, but all because it has a "big" BR doesn't mean it can't fight tier 4 with ease. Yes you MIGHT see some early tier 4 planes but they aren't as dangerous as the late spitfires. The BR is 4.3 through out the all game modes including Arcade (Depending on your load out you might fight higher and lower tier planes), Realistic, and Simulator modes.

                                       The planes you will fight and might see

In the Fw 190 A4 you should expect to see the same BR, lower, and in some rare cases 5.0. The spitfire Mk. IX (14) being the dangerous. Some allied planes that you will and might see are:

  • P-51 Mustang D5, 10, 20, 30
  • F4U 1D-C
  • B-17 Early and Late
  • Spitfire Mk. IX and lower
  • Wellington Late
  • Beaufighters
  • Typhoon Mk. 1b/L (It has 4 20mm hispanos)
  • Yak 3P
  • Yak 9T
  • Yak 9U

These planes are the most dangerous planes you should expect to see

                                                                   Tips:

  • If you get in a flat spin in Sim and don't know how to get out of one I'll tell you here.

[attachment=139192:shot 2015.05.05 15.43.01.jpg]

  • that tells you what direction you are spinning (left or right) . So look at that and see where you are turning, now kill throttle and lets say hit left rudder "hard". if you go in a dive you are good slowly pull out of it and go max throttle.
  • If you pull to hard you will get into another one even worse you get into  a falling leaf.
  • Which your best option is to do the same in a flat spin, if you get below 6000ft bail out.

Pros:

  • Good max speed
  • Great fire power
  • amazing view (front and rear) for simulator pilot's
  • Great energy retention
  • It has a lot of cannon ammo
  • It can head on planes and almost win every time
  • can take a beating and still fly back home and repair
  • amazing at BnZ
  • amazing bomber hunter

Cons

  • Poor turn time
  • bad climb rate
  • it gets in flat spins in Sim fast
  • It can't stay on WEP for long at low altitude
  • if you don't use vertical targeting it is hard to get all guns on target

needs work!

U=/= you

you  should cover

- better explanation of BnZ tactics

- armament ( 2xMG-151/20's with 250rpg in roots, 2x MG-FF/M with 120 rpg and 2x MG-17 with 500 rpg)

-> great bomber hunter

-> good armament allows it to Head on most enemies and win

-> abusing the 7.92 mg's to make enemies bleed energy in attempts to dodge

->  all cannons can mount the famous German airbelts

 <- Mg- FF/M have a different trajectory ( lower muzzle velocity) than the mg151, and are mounted mid wing , making it hard to get all 4 cannons on target

flight characteristics

- tougher than nails

-> airframe can take a beating, same with the BMW-801 engine

-optimal under 5k alt

-> slow to over heat and slower to cool

- history, don't C&P the 190 wiki  :learn:

i can help

Remember to compare your article with already existent one and to mention every game mode equally. An overview over common enemies and targets is useful too.

Language is also an issue. "You" is in a few instances okay, but neutral speech is always preferred ;) This rule applies: "Stay formal unless it's less simple."

You may take over already written passages & content, BUT mark them so (different colour, brackets, etc.), so that we know what you have created/improved.

thx :D hope i get in 3rd place at least but then again I am making use of all this time and even if i lose i will still try to get this posted on the wiki :D

Thank you for higlighting the unaltered text. It is a good read. Keep up the good work :salute:

There is certainly a fierce opposition, though.

Here some examples:

Although this guide will help some beginners, in the long run, it will also teach the reader bad habits.

Boom n Zoom isnt energy fighitng. Its a double inferior state in comparison to your enemy, like he has advantage both in maneuverability and power:weight ratio - so you keep your alt up, cause you're flying inferior aircraft.

FW190A4 isnt inferior to its opposition, and shouldnt be flew this way, as its waste of machine and time : )

FW190A4 is fully able to dogfight most of its opposition, especially when there are mates around. The only plane I imagine you should not fight is Spitfire LF mk IX.

"Flight Model", I guess you meant "Damage model".

You wrote that it has great energy retention. Well, in comparison to biplanes, or Spitfire mk Vb yes. In comparison to Yak9T, Yak3, or P63  it doesnt. Just because youve dove from altitude and went back to it, it doesnt mean it has great energy retention.

I also dont agree that it has poor climb rate. Its somewhere in the middle.
