Please post your Linux system configs. settings and FPS results

Only able to play with decent FPS on 1024x768, OLD video-card setting, since last patch 1.77.1.12.

I could play on 1680x1050 with low FPS before this patch though...

Here is some system info i use at moment:

before 1.77 all was good, after 1.77 playing with aircraft is useless, especially bombers for i cannot see the ground properly due to the already reported big shadow blotches, performance wise it is okay, but occasionally the framerate tanks real hard and becomes a slideshow for a couple of seconds...

benchmark for "Eastern front" with 1.77 is:

Average FPS: 166.5

Minimal FPS: 118.7
Rating: 16573

benchmark for "Tank Battle" with 1.77 is:

Average FPS: 46.4

Minimal FPS: 37.5
Rating: 2888

benchmark for "Tank Battle (CPU)" with 1.77 is:

Average FPS: 44.6

Minimal FPS: 35.9
Rating: 2550

Wish War Thunder had some frame smooth tech, its clear the OpenGL renderer does not have this feature for this game compared to many other opengl games I have that have smooth framerate. Frame smoothing has nothing to do with framespersecond, its more to do with how the frame buffer works and syncs the images on screen so it offers no stutter or gitters. ATM WT has quite a fair bit of this going on no matter the framerate, thought it gets significantly worse the lower your FPS is.

If you compare WT windows directx and opengl you can directly see the issue I talk about.

damn that is one heck of an old graphics card (2009), almost 10 years or so by now... so no wonder you need to run old video card support,  do yourself a favor and buy a new one, for around a 50 to 100 bucks/euros and you got double if not triple the power these days, even more if you can go second hand, which cant be that much worse then whats in there already... a better card would also help unload some work from that i7 processor.

by the looks of those specs, is this pc normally a server or workstation meant for crunching data and not gaming? good cpu, huge amount of storage and RAM, but a bottleneck that is an ancient gpu.

a "cheap" but 'newer' card upgrade would do a lot in your case and really make your game more enjoyable.

Lol yes i know :D

It's actually a server as you guessed by the specs,

I have already ordered a new graphics card if it will arrive at all, they had only 1 left and they delivered it to a wrong person here in turkey (go UPS)

now that is a beefy graphics card, awesome upgrade right there, i hope you will get it soon :)  do make sure you check your power supply too though, the 1080Ti with tripple fans is a power hungry monster.

good luck :D

ps, yeah UPS can be a disaster, but so can FedEx or many others... no worries for you though as if it's their fault they have to make set it right themselves.

updated my post with screenshots of my current settings, anisotropy suffered since i last posted as for some reason the frame stuttering became a lot worse over the past 2 weeks, changing anisotropy seems to relieve most of the stress, changed mine from 16x to 4x, other settings don't seem to have as much of an impact at all overhere...

I've come back to the game after a long break, glanced over the forum, saw people pointing out thevastly decreased performance and decided to run my benchmarks again(previous results in a linked post from August, included at the bottom of the post).

And it's not good. The average FPS for Ground Forces has tanked by 35%, from comfortable 67 FPS to just 46. The minimum fared even worse, dropping from 54 to 33 FPS.

For Air Forces, the situation is less bleak, with a small drop in  average FPS still leaving the average at 2.5x the refresh rate, and the minimum falling from just under 2x the refresh rate to 1.85x. Also, the 384.100 drivers seem to have made Vsynch work for many games on this Optimus laptop. War Thunder is the unfortunate exception from that trend. Oh well, I suppose I'll have to wait for when the Vulkan shaders are sorted ;)

Current results:

nvidia driver upgrade and linux kernel upgrade doesnt help me.

please do anything, impossible to play on any game videosettings!

good news - i don't know if it's cause by a WT-Update (currently 1.77.2.193) or by kernel/mesa-update (4.17/mesa 18.0.4/llvm6.0.0), but i now get close to 60fps on high settings again! :D

mesa 18.0.4 is quite old, I think 18.1.+ is latest released. Odd that Manjaro would have such old version of mesa.

18.0.4 is from may 17th, the 18.1 series was released may 18th.

24 days is not what i would consider "quite old" :lol2:

Manjaro imho is a good middle ground between rolling in the sense of "bleeding edge" and the reliability of a point release model - for the lack of trouble i've had with manjaro, i can accept a one month long delay for major versions ;)

I use antergos, just choose whatever I want, no troubles installing stuff at all. Use to use Manjaro but NVIDIA kept releasing CRITICAL fixes to their drivers which did not get updated on Manjaro without waiting and switching to testing.. was a hassle.

Another release, another benchmark. Warning - this one was taken at the end of a gaming session, and not at the beginning, so it might be 2-3 FPS lower than it should be. I'll redo it tomorrow and replace the results if that's the case.:

War Thunder 1.79.1.10, OpenGL render

Tank battle CPU:

Average FPS 45.2

Minimal FPS 34.3

Rating 2585

Pacific War Day:

Average FPS: 155.6

Minimal FPS: 118.3

Rating: 35636

Summary: Slightly higher Minimal results, slightly lower Average results. Could be due to Nvidia 396 instead of 384. The shadow of doom is gone and that's very good news, but the FPS isn't even close to pre 1.77 values

Release 1.81.1.16, time for a new benchmark!

TL, DR: Small increase in Air FPS, margin of error differences in Tank FPS pointing slightly at more consistency over best results(increase in minimal FPS over Average FPS). Interestingly, this change, with higher minimal FPS and lower average has held up for the last 3 benchmarks, though we're still far from pre-1.77 values.

Tank battle CPU:

Average FPS 44.4

Minimal FPS 35.3

Rating 2541

Pacific War Day:

Average FPS: 176.6

Minimal FPS: 124.5

Rating: 40460

Another release with small improvements to tank battles :good:The small performance drop in air benchmark is irrelevant(still above 100 FPS), but could be due to running the benchmark after a single battle.(The tank benchmark was ran second and shouldn't be affected)

Release 1.83.0.46

Pacific War Day:

FPS(average): 173.2

FPS(minimum): 112.3

Rating: 39675

Tank Battle(CPU):

FPS(average): 44.8

FPS(minimum): 36.2

Rating: 2560
