Please post your Linux system configs. settings and FPS results

prior to 1.69 i had pretty decent fps, around 40-60 with high settings.

after 1.69 i only get 20-25fps, different settings don't really seem to make too much of a difference.

vsync off, mesa_glthread=true, reinstalling (even reinstalled the OS) don't seem to help :(

Hello Termy,

It looks like both your Intel intergrated GPU and AMD GPU are being detected, Are you sure your still using the AMD GPU?

hm, should be. other games run fine.

my monitor is connected to the dGPU and i don't have prime installed, so i would think it shouldn't be possible that the iGPU is used, right?

is there any way i can see for sure what is used?

Yes you are right if your monitor is connected to your dedicated GPU then it wouldn't be possible for you to be using the Intel Integrated GPU, I'm assuming seeing as you tried reinstalling your OS that you have tried a fresh install too?

Just as a troubleshooting step, Have you tried the mesa AMD drivers?

yeah, fresh install with no fiddling didn't change the performance unfortunately :/

I'm using mesa (AMDGPU-Pro is not really available on Arch/Manjaro as it only supports xorg 1.18 and kernel <4.9)

edit: just noticed while testing: switching between max and low preset doesn't change anything, always around 24fps with rare dips to 20fps. but activating "old videocard support" runs fine, stable 60fps (with vsync). As a RX580 can't really be considered old and other people with mesa seem to have no problems i think i might be missing some library or something? does WT use any 32-bit librarys or something?

On high, I get ~65 FPS despite having turned on vsynch. Vsynch not working is due to the fact that the laptop's display is connected to Intel's card and it was reportedly go away with newer drivers(I'll update to 384.69 by adding https://launchpad.net/~graphics-drivers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+packages). I turned the settings up, hoping it would reduce the framerate, but it stayed the same after turning up anisotropic filetering, HQ FXAA, long distance drawing and accurate shore it stayed roughly the same(differences <1 FPS as I turned the settings up one by one).

Hi

My configuration is as follows:

CPU Phenom x4 910
VGA GTX 750 ti / 1G ddr5
8G memory
asus motherboard M4A78LT-M LE

I think the processor is weak. Is that correct? If I put in another higher performance processor, will I get better results?

The motherboard accepts :

Phenom 2 x4 945
Phenom 2 x4 960T
Phenom 2 x6 1035T
Phenom 2 x6 1045T

thanks

Hello @Cayari,

Well the Phenom II series of CPUs are fairly old now, you might get a bit better performance upgrading to a higher clocked x4 four core or higher clocked x6 six core Phenom II however I would say upgrading your GPU would probably give you a bigger increase in performance in games.

I already expected, I wanted to be sure , because I'm saving up to buy a Phenom 2 x4 945 used

And about the fact that my video card have memory 1G regarding the War Thunder? I use a 28 pol tv at 1366 x 768 resolution

thank you so much for your time :)

Ok, As I said you may only get a very small increase in performance going to a Phenom 2 x4 945, But if you can get one for a good deal then it should help a little bit with system performance.

Regarding your GPU, War Thunder doesn't use that much VRAM as it doesn't have any overly high resolution textures, (And your only running at 1366 x 768.) So the amount of VRAM on your card won't be the sole limiting factor, The actual performance of your GPU will affect the performance of War Thunder more.

Ideally you want 2GB of VRAM or ideally even better more to to be comfortable running with the highest resolution textures in games these days.

I have the same problem on Solus OS and I've already reported it here:

Maybe you can post your logs too.

Hi, @apemax

Should I post a bug report? My issue seems to be very similar to the following bug report.

https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/398395-1750124-1750162normal-fps-only-with-old-video-card-support/

Yes please submit a bug report here:

https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/forum/920-moderated-bug-reports-linux/

Remembering to follow the guidelines here:

Also could you please use the in built performance logger to produce a .clog file with the performance data in it by following these instructions:

And directly uploading the .clog file from that session to the forum in your bug report?

Pre 1.77 I managed to squeeze 70fps at 4k out of my 1080ti with no FSAA and some settings on half way sliders.

With 1.77 I get about 30-40fps with graphical glitches.

Moved back to Windows which never dips below my FPS lock of 61fps with most things on max and TAA. IMO Linux is broken for this game, for me atm, might wait until a major update for linux which might even happen, fingers crossed fro VulkanAPI. I hear performance is better for AMD users now, dunno how that happened.
