I think this should be obvious.

 

Too short, people have been complaining about this for years. Don't let an match be decided on who is the first team that destroys the opposing airfield. Just remove their ability to repair on the destroyed airfield and let the match keep going.

I'd like to say to this:

Early tier games (Tier 1 and 2, sometimes tier 3) have a really nice length! 10-15mins average.

But tier 3 (BR range close to tier 4) + 4 games end too fast...

So I'm going to vote for: "Far too short. Should be considerably longer." And 10-15mins (Games where I actually use all of my 5 planes sometimes)

I thought about 20 mins, but that'd be too long for me.

But I consider T1 and T2 to be (already) the perfect length most of the time. Problems arrive higher you go in the BR range

I dont play arcade battles for planes, but I play it for tanks because theres more variety and more players.

 

I wish it could be longer tho, 20mins+ to give everyone time to empty out thier crew slots, its annoying just getting into position with a tank destroyer or a slow heavy tank and theres only 2mins of game time left:/

The 15 minutes is fine, but with the bomber spam/rush...it's all over in a few minutes.

 

Tier 3 is just no fun to play. Just had another of those and I decided to stick to tier 2 from now on.

 

Had enough of this. I'm here to enjoy myself, not to get frustrated.

Would you rather have an game without having a chance to play half of your crew slots? If you lose all your aircraft you can just leave the match.

That is a fair argument. I would still prefer them to stay shorter though, I want to be there when the match ends so I can assign research points, etc. Either way I am not really bothered though. Whatever the community votes I am happy with ;)

It shouln't be longer than 5-10min. Want longer? Go to Realistic Battles.

Do you realise some reloads of ammo or bombs are over 30 sec?

So you are reloading for about 1/10 of the game or longer?

You realise some people want to use over 5 crews?

1 min. for a crew?

Tier's 1, 2 and early 3 are fine, imo. It's that horrible space of higher tier 3 to low tier 5 (br 6.7) that gets ruined by the bomber rushes, especially maps like hidden base where there are no minibases to take out before the airfield. It also doesn't help when flying bombers is the most efficient way to grind rp and lions. New patch with new vehicles = massive influx of bomber pilots. I do it too, why wouldn't I? I can get 10-12k rp with my talismaned B17, in a short space of time and with little effort. 

 

It has been said in numerous threads that a solution that most players feel happy with is to get rid of the ticket bleed once the airfield is destroyed, and possible increase the the health of bases. Why not add more targets, e.g. bridges, large factories, train stations, railroads etc.

 

On side note, I feel that ground targets should not be visible through clouds. Makes bombing far too easy.

Tier 1,2 are fine

Later T3 and T4 can be way too short.

Early T5 can also be too short if there is not enough MiG9/Ki-200's to shoot the bombers down

Late T5 is fine

optimal for me would be 12-17mins

Seen somebody post about a 3 minute 57 second game today and I just had a 4 minute 19 second game in tier 4.  They really should amend the ticket counter and implement something like the ideas that have been mentioned.

 

No airfield repairs for example, possibly a longer wait to respawn such as 30 seconds until you can respawn or perhaps even no more respawns for the team with the destroyed airbase.  This would add to the tension of the match considerably but wouldn't mean automatic defeat and if both bases are bombed out, it would become a last man standing match, which could be pretty cool.

 

There are so many options to turn this disappointing situation in to a game changing win.

First of all, if the battle is "too long" for you, you can always just exit the match. This gives players more options, which is good, instead of less options, which is bad. (Should be obvious, but I could say that about 10,000 things). 

Possible solutions for bomber base rush. 5x base hp is one I've seen, probably not ideal. Or my idea (which I obviously think is good) is just not allow the base(s) being destroyed send your ticket counter into a downward spiral. Let it be 50% of the tickets, and let the rest be player planes and ground targets.

12-17minutes would be fine. Around 15 minutes.

 

At least leave anough time so most of the people use up all their planes.

10-15minutes is about right for Arcade.

 

Shorter: not enough time to gather some RP/SL

Longer: might be problematic for the casual player (like me), who can't play for hours on end.

give them more length...boom and zoom tactics have no chance at all in arcade mode later on...as if the "nerfed" flight model isn't enough. 

 

don't make it crazy long but it should be around 15-20 to be proper.

In early t2, game can be too long when no one attacks tanks and match goes to death match.

Tier 3.. 4.. Self explanatory.

A little less than 15min per game would be the sweet spot IMO Edited by PzGren

And what is this ridiculous irritating thing in some maps that makes it even shorter?

SUDDENLY THE TIMER OF ONE SIDE GOES TO ZERO VERY FAST WITHOUT THE AIRFIELD DESTROYED??????

That feels like someone is spitting in my face!

Some of my thoughts on why I think they are too short and what might help change that:

Air:

  • Don't let the tickets bleed to 0 when an airfield is killed. The team won't be able to land & repair, but could still win, bombers don't "kill" the match in 3 minutes anymore, but can still earn EP.
  • Add spawning vehicle columns / Attack formations once the ground targets are almost depleted, they give ground attackers some targets and a reason to play. 
  • Make the ground targets more durable towards higher tier matches as the payload increases. 
  • Enough with the shoebox-sized maps like Gorge (Alps map). Maps like Berlin give so much more room to maneuver and use tactics. 

Ground:

  • Away with the super small maps. Make them big to force players to think and coordinate and read the minimap.
  • Add alternative approaches in the surrounding area to maps like Poland, give the maps options to maneuver and play smart instead of "Hulk - Smash!"
  • Re-work the cap points. On some maps they are placed so badly, it is nearly impossible to get there, once the enemy sits in the hills around it.
  • Give more than 3 spawns. That way players would make use of their crews and might even spend GEs on leveling them faster. I did and am glad I did.
  • Make the spawning of airplanes a bit harder (1/2 a point for killing AI/AAA) but let the bomber spawn a bit further from the enemy fighters and give it 5 seconds more of life so you can go around for a second approach.
  • Add AI planes for the SPAAGs.

That's it for now, I've been carrying these thoughts around for quite a while, hope some things actually get changed. The longer the match the better. At worst I get to use all my 7 crews (air) at best I can experience the battle going back and forth. Players hopefully stop wasting their planes to get as much out of the 5 minutes matches as possible and start to play smart again.
