Ki-45ko Hei, Japanese mainland defense, 1945

<HISTORICAL>  <TX & NM>

This Ki-45 was specially painted by the sentai's commander to be more recognizable to aid in leading his squadron. In the real plane, the gunner's position was also eliminated to give greater speed and climb performance. Reference photo HERE

(this photo is temporary until dev server re-opens/patch 1.39 is released, then I will replace it with one following the thread guidelines) I allowed myself to update it. /Fic

Nakajima B5N2 Type 97 model 3, IJN Carrier Akagi

<HISTORICAL>  <TX & DMG & NM>

Reference:
65_19_b3.png

According this source: In his book, MIDWAY: THE BATTLE THAT DOOMED JAPAN, Fuchida detailed that the back of his plane had red and yellow stripes... we now know that this referenced a single red 'carrier identification' stripe and three yellow hikotaicho stripes. In 1966, Dr Michael Hawkins wrote a B5N monograph for the Profile series in which the artist used raw notes from Fuchida that his plane was the number '301' plane, and came up with a silver/natural metal finish plane with red and yellow horizontal stripes across the vertical surfaces. The B5N profile In 1967, Chuck Graham illustrated Al Makiel's article for IPMS-USA a page on Japanese aircraft 'at Pearl Harbor' including an dotted outline of AI-301 based on movie film found at the US National Archives. So the markings at select stages may be determined - like peeling away layers of an onion. AI-301 had a pre-war scheme of natural metal with red tail that had three yellow command stripes and a red vertical 'carrier' stripe. Pilot - Lt.Mitsuo Matsuzaki.
Curtiss P-40E, Natal Air Force Base, 1942-1943.

<HISTORICAL>  <TX & DMG>

One of the six P-40E-1 aircraft delivered to FAB in April 1942. The fighters had been originally built for RAF, but later diverted to USAAF. The machine sports a non-standard British Temperate Land Scheme factory applied using U.S. paints - probably 42 Medium Green, Sand and Sky Gray. Over painted U.S. ARMY markings and U.S. national insignia on the right wing's lower surface. Brazilian national insignia on the fuselage and upper wing surfaces only; later the markings were also added to the lower wings surfaces. Black 01 tail number.

<SEMI-HISTORICAL>  <TX & DMG>

Fw190A-8/R2, “Black 13”, flown by CO of II.(Sturm)/JG 3 “Udet” Oblt. Werner Gerth, as it appeared near Illesheim in July, 1944. Werner Gerth achieved his first victory with 7./JG53 in southern Italy in the
summer of 1943, and on the 17th of September, was wounded during a raid on Ciampino. After recovering, he volunteered for duty with Sturmstaffel 1, where he would rank as one of the units most
successful pilots. He brought down his first four-engined heavy bomber on February 22, 1944. As Sturmstaffel 1 was integrated into IV/JG 3, he was named CO of its sub component 11./JG 3 (which was
later re-designated as 14./JG 3). On October 29th, 1944, on reaching 26 victories, he was awarded the Knight's Cross. His last combat took place on November 2, 1944, flying Fw190A-8/R2 W. Nr.
682057, when he was fatally wounded during an attack on a B-17 over Halle. He was twenty-one years old. His exact tally is open to some speculation, but most references list 27, 22 of which comprise.
