  1. The Yak-30D does not have an afterburner, the differences in the D model are even listed in the Dev Blog: It has a Kimov RD-500 which is essentially a Rolls Royce Derwent. Neither of which have an afterburner. You seem to have the Yak-30 and MiG-9L confused for some other aircraft as neither possess an afterburner.
  2. Neither the Yak-30 or MiG-9L have an afterburner. There is a significant difference between an afterburner and boost. They cannot go Mach 1 because they could not in real life, because they didnt have an afterburner. It has nothing to do with any limitation on the game engine at all.

  6. The M103 turret issues have been corrected (mostly in 1.63), with the last remaining fixes to be introduced in a future update. The Neutral Steer was corrected. The 120mm M358 APBC-T rounds are being investigated. The only other open report remaining for the M103 is this one: So the tank is not "broken" as you claim at all, unless you have evidence of issues not yet reported? This serves no purpose at all. This is precisely why we have Dev Blogs and Dev Server openings to collect player feedback and opinion as we do at all times. The T-14 was built by an American company as a joint project by American and British teams. The version added is the American version with the 75mm M3. The P-51 was actually built to a British specification and requirement and later used a licence built version of a British Engine in the vast majority of its production models. That does not however mean the P-51 is automatically deservedly British (as they have their own variants in service). Unfortunately the same discussion point comes around every update when a new premium is introduced. There are views and opinions on all sides, but all must be considered. Every update introduces a plethora of new machines as the game expands. We currently have over 800+ machines that that figure is ever rising.
  7. Its still the same layered technology employed on the A1A1. The additional rubber is rather meaningless protection wise when you have those plates then spaced anyway. The only details and images posted so far (Sourced here on Mai's Sensha blog) do not really specify much obliviously with it still being an active service machine, so its not exactly clear of its true composition. It certainly will not be offering any revolutionary protection that true composite Armour machines (and the ones people are suggesting) provide. The overlying problem here however that im sensing is people seem to be assuming the Type 87 is the sudden grand start of Composite Armour suggestions and discussion, when the suggestions for the Type 64, MBT-70, Leopard 2s and many others started almost a year ago when ATGMs were first introduced with update 1.59. The Type 87 is not the sudden start of this topic, they are present all across the forum, Reddit, steam and all other outlets. As well as that, even questions to the developers have been asked from the community for some time now : The same "effect" started with the introduction of the 1956 CL-13 which people saw as the start of post 1953 aircraft being introduced, when it was simply the top tier balancing jet for Germany along with the DDR MiG-15Bis and Pre-production Hunter F1 for Britain. The Type 87 was a well suggested and known SPAAG that made sense as the top tier Anti-Aircraft for Japan due to its clear similarities with the Gepard, ZSU-23-4 and M163 era of defense. Japan was just slightly behind time wise with the development of it, which has no effect in game.
  8. There has not really been any change at all in the trend of Suggestions. IVF suggestions are nothing new, neither is composite Armour ground vehicles. They have been suggested for a very long time before we even had Japanese tanks, so the Type 87 has had no part in that. It was also addressed in various Developer Q and As long before the Type 87 was ever a reality.
  9. Unfortunately it wont be stopping any tank cannons getting through. It may save it from machine guns and light cannons, but its no Composite protection that people are expecting.
  10. Composite Armour by very definition is any Armour using layered materials to enhance Armour protection. The A1A1 has thin rubber and Steel "sandwiched" together on top of each other as well as those then being spaced around the turret. Composite Armour is a very broad spanning definition. The Type 87 (going by what little information is available) supposedly is simply layered composite Armour no different to the A1A1 only that the Leopards is also spaced as well as layered. We have tanks that already employ "composite" Armour to some effect in game. The Type 87 is not going to start any revolutions I assure you.

  13. The Type 87 like the Ru-251 is still in Development. Providing the devs have all the correct information required provided to them, there should be no issues with the Type 87. But the proposed "composite" Armour on the Type 87 is not the traditional composite some people were expecting on the forums/Reddit etc and really not much different to the Armour technology already employed on the Leopard A1A1 in game.

  46. The Type 61 based SPAAG was another option, however the Type 87 was another. That seems like a rather spesific and nice rule to have specifically for light vehicles. Other than the He-177, Germany did not have any other major operational heavy bombers, so are the other 4 nations also not to have any as a result? Unless the Type 61 experimental SPAAG or Type 87 were used, Japan would not have a top tier 7.0 - 8.0 SPAAG. Germany has the most reseachable ground forces units out of any nation in the game. Totaling 60 overall. Japan as a contrast coming out of CBT has just 29 reseachable machines. Germany, of course was one of the introductory nations with the USSR, but the simple factor and complications of Japanese tanks has made itself quite evident. The Japanese Ground Forces community project and Mai's work has lead to the viable introduction of that component of the game. But the simple fact that the RU-251 is a premium does not put Germany at a disadvantage at all, when they currently have one of the most complete, effective and robust trees in game.
  47. This is not Germany's first post war vehicle. They have the Leopard 1, Leopard A1A1, Raketenjagdpanzer 2, Raketenjagdpanzer HOT, Jagdpanzer 4-5 and Flakpanzer Gepard. 3 of those machines share the same chassis foundation as the RU-251. Presumably you intended that the RU-251 is the first German Rank IV post war vehicle. However the fact that a vehicle is postwar does not automatically equate to a Rank V or researchable machine. Unfortunately, not every nation can be a complete mirror image of each other. I do not think anyone can doubt that every effort is taken to ensure all nations have equality as far as can reasonably be achieved from a balance perspective. Sometimes this necessitates the need to push boundaries slightly (such as the Type 87), however sometimes its simply not possible to give every single nation and complete mirror image of each others technology if they simply did not have it. Britain historically did not use Explosive filled rounds, Germany did not have any independently designed machines in the immediate post war years and only really began independent work in the 1950s and 1960s (although they quickly caught up) Japan had difficulties with its heavy (or rather Super-heavy) tank projects. Each nation has its own identity and development depending on multiple historical factors. You will also find that people generally have different opinions on what constitutes equality. But using the example of the ASU-57 for example as you mentioned its BR, the simple fact its post war has no impact on how effective the machine is in battle to tank commanders.

  53. We are always transparent and honest wherever possible. Originally the Ru-251 dev blog did not state weather the machine would be reseachable or premium, only that it would be in Rank IV of the German tech tree. We updated this to clarify where it would sit. But id also like to address some inaccuracies in your other points. This is completely false. Indeed the E-100 (whilst still in its development stages) was originally modeled in game and in the first deb blogs with the incorrect gun model based on certain sources that lead to the confusion. This however was corrected in the model and a separate news article even created to show the changes that were going to be made, why the error occurred and the sources used. We were completely clear what we were going to do with the E-100 with regards to its gun model. They were the results of bug reports and historical sources. The D-5 has its dive breaks with the appropriate weapon configurations and Bf 109 F-4s have their historical gunpods. The H8K2 was indeed intended to be premium, however the H8K3 was suggested by the community to replace it. So the H8K2 was put on hold whilst the H8K3 was created and both introduced simultaneously. A direct result of constructive player feedback. A nearly 3 year old outdated discussion that has long since been resolved and many bug reporting rules changed since then. Correct values for a different turret. We have the V1 as specified by Porsche's own design standards.
  54. I understand fully as this same discussion occurs every update with at least one of the premiums introduced, because some wanted it not to be premium. It happens regardless of what the machine its, its background or the reasons for it being premium. People overlook most of the major glaring factors. A) We have 2 SPG/support lines, so they could use any machines required B) Germany has no light tank line and has 5 full resealable lines. No nation currently has more than 5 and its unlikely we will see more than 5 anytime soon. They were not a major user of light tanks and the branch would require mostly prototypes for the simple sake of "giving Germany a light tank line" when there are far better uses of a new line. Each and every single player generally has their own opinions on what should/should not be premium. That does not however change the fact that a free to play game has to have such content. It does not "kill" the possibility of other light tanks. There are other opportunities for more to slot in to certain positions (like how the US and USSR light line has related SPGs) in the tree or themselves be premium/gift/event machines. Germany was not a major adopter or user of that spesific tank class, those that were produced are mostly represented in game with some form of variant.
  55. Lots of tanks are heavily requested, however the reality of a healthy free to play game is there has to be premium content. Regardless of what machines are chosen to be premium, there will always be those that wanted them reseachable and vice versa with popular suggestions like the FV 4202 and T26E1-1
  56. As Germany has two SPG branches, both of those machines could fit just fine in those if required. Germany has 3 Rank IV premiums (1 already being an SPG, and 2 heavy tanks) whilst America has 6 and the USSR 7 (counting the Type 62, 6 without).
  57. I have seen the proposal before and I must say its very well thought out with lots of consideration to all possibilities. However as things currently stand, no nation in the game has more than 5 reseachable lines and its a big technological jump for Germany to suddenly gain 2 more additional ones, when it already has the most reseachable ground vehicles in game.

  61. Regardless of what machines are chosen to be premium, it will never please everyone. Germany already has 5 full reachable lines of ground vehicles in game. No nation has a 6th line currently and there are no other German light tanks as of present. The bottom line that people often forget, is that this is an entirely free to play game and there has to be premium machines that are attractive for simple economics to function and to allow the game to continue to grow and expand. This is not a main production tank, it is a rejected light panzer project that was overturned in favor of the Leopard.

Regarding the Ki-102 specifically, having looked through all the old bug reports, I have yet to see one with any definitive sources that clearly show the Ho-401 did in fact have HEAT or APHE shells. The fact that it is similar to the Type 90/97 Tank cannon does not automatically mean it had those shells. It would be interesting indeed if someone could bring forward the correct information.

  68. We confirmed with the developers regarding the Type 87s Armour based on the sources they were provided and the information they have available, that the Type 87 will not have composite Armour. Non of which contained anything regarding any composite Armour (turret or chassis).
  69. As Ive said above, all evidence and sources show the Type 87 was based on the modified hull of a Type 74. The Type 74 itself was not a composite tank and no Type 87 resources show any presence or modification regarding composite armor, just the modifications made to the Type 74 chassis. So as all evidence and information on the Type 74 and 87 conclude with no involvement of composite Armour, the tank will not be introduced with any Armour it did not have. If as I also said, there does indeed prove to be valid sources that show clearly some modifications of the Type 74 or 87 had composite Armour via bug report, then it will of course be corrected. But as this is a historical based game where vehicles are modified as far as can be accurately done with the sources available, the Type 87 will be introduced with the Armour that all sources direct it to have.

  74. It has always been a factor, just many dont often consider the process and thoughts that go into each and very vehicles introduction. There was no data provided that showed any composite Armour on the Type 87, so no, it will not have any game changing armour.
  75. Indeed we do both understand, that had there been massive negative reactions to the possibility of the Type 87, it would not have been added. However it was in fact quite the opposite. There is no hassle, it is simply being added as the top Japanese SPAAG and that is a development decision. It goes no further. In the 4 years I have been here, I have seen no decrease of interest or the demands for the F-100, B-52, Tu-95, Vulcan, E-50, E-75, A-10 to name but a few, however here we are. The last "generation jump" to the T-62, M60A1 and Leo A1A1 was proposed and discussed for over 2 years before they were introduced and that was done to ensure all nations ground forces reach a point where they are balanced and equal just as the addition of the 1956 CL-13 did for aviation. There is no need or justification to push further any time soon and the Type 87 is defiantly not a reason. There was no data provided for any composite Armour on the Type 87, so it will not have any difference in game.

Because it is being added to give the Japanese a top tier capable SPAAG that is immediately comparable to the German Gepard we have in game and is being added for balance, not the start of composite Armour tanks anytime soon. Thats as far as it goes. It was also the most popular SPAAG option going by player suggestions in the CBT on the forums + social media and involved a mainstream production vehicle that compares almost identically to the Gepard. I really do not understand why people believe its going to behave any differently to a Gepard due to the composition of its Armour.

  78. It will open up nothing. The Type 87 is the top tier Japanese SPAAG and thats all there is too it. The Type 87 is not the start of any new "era" of machines for a very long time ahead. People have also "demanded" the F-100 Super Sabre and B-52 since the introduction of the CL-13, this however changes nothing.

A vehicle that is an SPAA is 18,000 to 20,000 SL's cheaper to repair than other nation top tier SPAA, but it is " appropriately charged for repairs" ?? This make zero sense. It is by far the best TD in game but listed as SPAA, so why not charge the same as other nations ? Does Gaijin not want players to shoot down aircraft?  it sure seems that way now with these absolutely stupid repair costs..

  80. The IS-2 has lost the BR-471D round as well as its reduction in BR. These changes were proposed last Friday and feedback was collected passed on, however there were generally no opposing factors to the IS-2s coming down.
  81. IL-2 Birds of Prey and Birds of Steel to my knowledge were both only on Console ( I have them on the 360). Wings of Prey is available on Steam for all and has been on sale on the Gaijin store from time to time too.

There are actually a few aircraft in game that have been in all Gaijin games from IL-2: Birds of prey, Wings of Prey, Birds of Steel and World of Planes which became War Thunder. All of those games progressively contributed to what is now War Thunder and are all "part of the family" so to speak. All of the Spitfires (before the Griffons and Mk IIa came to the game) were from the older games, as were the Bf 109 Emils, and the He-111s, Ju-87s, P-38s, He-162, Me 262, Me 163, A6Ms, P-47D, Blenheim, Avenger, Dauntless, Mustang Mk Ia and others. As you can see however, there is an ongoing processes of updating these models (as you can see from the improvements to the Spitfires, Bf 109 Emils, He-111s, P-38, F6F and He-162) to the new artistic standards of the game.

  84. You seem to be mistaken. There is only one premium Japanese Bf 109 E and that is the E7. It used to be the E3 (and likely was as the time you purchased it), however this was incorrect. The model was updated to the historically correct E7 and its name changed from E3 > E7. This is the same plane given away from war bonds, so there is no "gift" version of the Bf 109 E for Japan, there is only one premium version that you can purcahse or earn with warbonds.
  85. The issue with the Mustang Mk Ia / P-51 and KV-1E/KV-1B discrepancy has been raised some time ago. Yes it is indeed known and being looked at.
  86. Guys we are going around in circles here mentioning the same points over and over. Ground Forces is far more than just Armour and Shell types. There are many factors that go into making a vehicle excel and there is absolutely no denying the Panther II, like the Leopard is exceptionally good at what it does. Any experienced Panther II driver will be able to tell you that. The Panther II is used more than the Tiger IIs and has a far larger impact in battle than either of them. The Panther II is, by a substantial margin, the best 6.7 Tank in the current meta, significantly outperforming many others. It will have no major difficulty at 7.0 and will be more than capable of handling the tanks within its range. You seem to be forgetting or ignoring the Leopard 1 and Leopard A1A1 as well as the recently introduced Type 74, all of which are axis nations and all 3 of which are some of the absolute peak performing tanks we have in game to date.

  88. Thats a rather ridiculous comparison. The Panzer IV F2 is no Panther II, lets be clear.
  89. Tanks are not supposed to simply load a shell and ignore Armour. The Panther II just like a multitude of other tanks is able to use the accuracy of its 88mm gun to dispatch T-54s, M103s and just about everything else it can face frontally by hitting weak spots. It will have no issues at 7.0.
  90. The Panther II actually also has a superior engine and transmission in the form of the Maybach HL234, giving greater speed and maneuverability than normal Panthers. This in combination with its 88mm canon lean it more towards the "universality" of the Centurion 10 and T-54s, whilst obviously not being a Main Battle Tank. As most Rank IV - V players will understand, its often speed, maneuverability and firepower that counts over pure Armour protection. Its also not the only tank from that era at the 7.0 Rank, alongside the Tiger II 105, Jagdtiger, Kugelblitz, T-44-100, T32 and IS-3 (at 7.3 even). At 6.7, the Panther II is clearly the dominant force, used even more than the King Tigers and responsible for a significant effect on battle outcomes. It is the clear stand out tank at 6.7 by a significant margin and returns to 7.0, where it previously once was, alongside its original stablemate (back to the CBT days) the Tiger II 105mm. Both of which, the Panther II and Tiger II 105mm are also joined by the Jagdtiger at 7.0 and now the Kugelblitz, making for a very effective and complete lineup at that BR rank.
  91. That topic is not an official topic, nor is it an official list of what has been "accepted" into the revenue share program. That is a reference topic created and maintained by modelers, detailing who intends to work on what. In no way does it mean all of those projects may make it into the game, or are automatically a part of revenue share.
